Wendy Williams has been formally diagnosed with PPA or Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA), the same diagnosis Bruce Willis shares. PPA is caused by degeneration in the parts of the brain that control speech and language. These celebrities are raising awareness for these conditions, which are often under or misdiagnosed for many years. As with many other medical conditions, early intervention with speech therapy can help those living with this condition, which most often begins by affecting a person's ability to communicate and find the words to do so.

Individualized, patient centered speech therapy in the comfort of your own home or online via tele-therapy.

What an important addition to our Medicare recipients this year! In 2024, Medicare has allowed for 1:1 caregiver training as part of our therapy process. This has been a much needed area for so long and I am excited to offer this service for my clients' caregivers!

The final 2024 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule cuts payment rates, but allows SLPs to bill for caregiver training without the patient present and audiologists to bill for programming auditory osseontegrated devices.

This has been a frequently discussed topic recently in my therapy sessions. Thank you Your Dementia Therapist for another insightful and important topic.

Determining when someone is too impaired by dementia to drive safely is challenging because the disease’s course differs from person to person.

Great tips on questions to ask your doctor if your loved one has been diagnosed with dementia. This is from my colleague who I highly recommend to caregivers navigating through the world of dementia! Your Dementia Therapist

When a doctor diagnoses your loved one with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, you should ask many questions. It’s important to inquire to the doctor about the diagnosis as this will help you to understand your loved one’s present state of being and how this degenerative disease may worsen over time.
