My new blog post on coping skills...

"We don't come into the world with a checklist of healthy coping skills, we come into it wired to survive. Be kind to yourself while you learn more about yourself."

We all develop ways of coping with difficult thoughts, emotions, and situations throughout our lives. These learned behaviors are all adaptive , meaning we’ve used what tools we’ve had access to in order to move forward to the best of our ability. Most are typically developed subconsciously, mea...

If you are feeling 40% and are showing up to life at 40%, you are actually showing up at 100%. Our ability to show up to people, places, and things can change and expending more than we have will lead to burnout and other mental health struggles. When was the last time you asked yourself where you were at?

A "Tuesday Thought" to consider today 🧠

We have been led to think that "Happy" is a baseline state of being when it is just as extreme of an emotion as "Anger", "Sadness", and "Disgust". I would argue it's unrealistic to feel happy every day, and although happiness is a great motivator to live an authentic life, it is also perfectly healthy and acceptable to be "Ok".

I hope you have the most ok day today, nothing more, nothing less.

When faced with overwhelming emotions try this trick to practice distraction and self-soothing...

I like to call it the color walk, or if you are limited in mobility/surroundings, you can do this in your immediate area. Pick a color to identify different objects you come by (less challenging: green, more challenging: purple, etc.). Take pictures of these objects as you pass by them on your walk or gather them as you go. Take small moments to observe the color, shape, and size of the objects. If you are limited in time, this could be as quick as a 5-10 minute practice.

September is Su***de Prevention Month, please feel free to read and share my recent blog post on ways that we can recognize, prevent, and engage in discussion about su***de. Let's do this together.

In a mental health crisis please call 1(800) 273-TALK (8255), you are not alone 💙💜

September is Su***de Awareness Month , a very important time that I, as a mental health counselor and advocate, aim to spread awareness and facilitate discussions about su***de. Wondering about payment?

I understand that affordability can be a barrier in receiving mental health care and want answer questions and accommodate to the best of my ability. As an LPC-Associate, I am currently able to accept forms of private pay. There are options, however, to use HSA and FSA accounts, or request a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance company. I now have a limited number of sliding scale openings to help with these barriers. Let's talk about how I can best help you on your journey!
