Some require a surgical fix but the vast majority of non -traumatic tears can be successfully managed in a conservative manner if provided the right rehabilitation environment!
This post focuses on degenerate tears. Next week, we will dive into acute/traumatic tears. Enjoy!!

With an active patient population, these kinds of injuries and subsequent calls to the clinic happen quite often.
Knowing how to assess an acute sprain and advise on the next steps is of utmost importance.

Mini-Nordic isometrics are a great beginner eccentric hamstring exercise. And, as our last post mentioned, eccentric hamstring work is a great way for runners to strengthen their hamstrings.

The hamstrings co-contract with the quadriceps during initial loading but their main peak activity happens during terminal swing as the leg swings through just prior to initial contact. They work eccentrically to slow the leg down. This is why eccentric biased hamstring exercises are valuable! Give them a try.
