The Music Moves Mountains Foundation presents Yesterday & Today (formerly The Beatle Boys) and The Eddie Ray Band live at Central Machine Works on Saturday, January 31st from 4-6pm. As part of MMMF’s All Abilities Rock program, this is an inclusive and accessible live concert for all ages and abilities and is free to the public.

So happy to have our mover and shaker - International piano phenom and recording artist Henri Herbert - become our official world ambassador! Henri has volunteered with MMMF for over five years and is a big believer in the power of music. We are honored that he will be representing us and our mission around the globe!

I’m honored to share some meaningful news:

I’ve been invited to serve as a World Ambassador for the Music Moves Mountains Foundation — a nonprofit dedicated to using the scientifically proven power of music to change and improve lives.

Their mission is simple and beautiful:

➡️ To make music therapy, music education, and community outreach accessible to those who need it most.
➡️ To support life-changing programs and projects built around the healing, unifying force of music.
➡️ To help people rebuild, recover, and thrive through sound.

As someone who’s lived my entire life through the piano — across continents, highs, lows, and everything in between — this work hits home. I’ve seen what music can do. I’ve lived what music can do.

I’m grateful for the chance to help shine a light on this foundation and the people they serve.

We want to shine a brighter light on this year because so much of the progress that has been made in America has tragically been dismantled and targeted by the current administration. It's not an opinion; it is a cold, brutal truth that the disability community has been under attack merely for putting protections and supports in place to ensure basic civil rights and equal access for all. This vulnerable population - which includes 1 out of 4 people - has been reframed as a liability again instead of an asset to society. Gutting special education services, Medicaid, workforce opportunities, housing access, mental healthcare, and inclusion efforts not only sets us back to the dark ages but weakens society as a whole. We are doing our part to provide platforms for those with special needs with our All Abilities Rock program, but that is a drop in the bucket compared to the reality we face today. We encourage you to learn more about the current state of affairs in the disability world - thank goodness for the UN who have their priorities straight. And, if you are moved, please join us in our mission to make music accessible for all and make a contribution to our All Abilities Rock program!

Thank you to the Austin Chronicle for their continued support of MMMF and so many deserving nonprofits in Austin. Donations during this time of giving are absolutely appreciated, but remember, there are other ways to make an impact in your community! As a volunteer-run charity, we make the most of resources including event space, items to auction, new or used music gear, concerts tickets, in-kind services or items, and sponsorships for programs. When giving this year, necessities like food, shelter, and healthcare may seem priority - but don't forget how the power of music can improve mental health, feed the soul, heal the heart, give purpose, provide hope and happiness, as well as build relationships and connect community, especially for our most vulnerable! Our work also supports the music community, so it's a win-win for everyone!

As a reminder on Veteran's Day today, Music Therapy was created as an official Board-Certified Medical Practice during WWI and WWII as a way to aid in the healing and recovery process for soldiers returning from war. Whether used as a way to treat PTSD, anxiety, depression, emotional issues, or for physical rehabilitation, music has been a vital therapeutic tool for many years. Music is unlike any other form of treatment because it naturally taps into and transforms the whole person. Unfortunately, the DOGE cuts to the VA cut music therapy funding, leading to the termination of therapists and cancellation of programs. This was a lifeline to many and has raised concerns about mental health outcomes and veteran su***de rates. Veterans deserve better. If you want to join us in helping support those in need, donate today. We owe so much to the individuals who sacrificed for our freedoms.

So excited for our very own movers and shakers Yesterday & Today and Rockville Blues Band making their debut at C-Boy's in Austin this Saturday at 10pm! They have supported MMMF for years and played many of our benefit shows - now it's time to support them! Three generations of old school South Austin crazy talent in one room - this one is not to miss! Cid Sanchez , Adam Johnson, Jack Montesinos, Nico Leophonte, Chris Cebrian and Hudson Tartack!

THIS SATURDAY, NOV. 1ST @ 1OPM C-Boy's Heart & Soul in Austin!
After many years going by the name The Beatle Boys - a name given to them for what originally was a one-off project for a Beatles tribute back in 2018 for the Music Moves Mountains Foundation - the band is now moving forward as 'Yesterday & Today' to reflect where they are now. They will debut at Austin's legendary C-Boy's Heart & Soul on Saturday, November 1st with a whole new set of 50s/60s roots rock n roll and a few originals. Think Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, Larry Williams, Little Richard, The Beach Boys, Rolling Stones, The Who, and course, The Beatles! You don't want to miss this special night, shared with Rockville Blues and special guests, it's gonna be a party y'all! Mark your calendars!

Congrats to The Eddie Ray Band and special guest Bobby Mack for a fun and successful night of fundraising for the Circle of Fifths and music inclusion! Props to band leader Phil Montfort , Steve Klopp, Kim Session, CoF founders Mara and Katrina, and Leah Rummel for their tireless work creating accessible music opportunities for adults with disabilities. And to all the parents, caregivers, volunteers, supporters, and friends who showed up and bought merch and auction items and cheered them on - you are the true movers and shakers and action takers that make a big difference in the world!
