Hello from Austin! I have returned from my (almost) month-long trip to Colombia and have settled into my new home in Austin, Texas. I'm still integrating the many shifts that have occurred while also adjusting to all the newness in this current chapter of life.

With so much changing, it feels weird to try to encapsulate it here on social media, there is a sweetness to just being in my own moment without having to make it digestible for others. But I do intend to find a good balance of how to connect and engage here, because I think that's also valuable and important.

In the meantime, check out my new profile in the Deep Eddy Psychotherapy directory below! If you or someone you know is looking to start therapy, send them my way, my caseload is open for business!

First day of my 32nd year of life (yes my birthday is on Christmas!) and I’m off to my next chapter!! I’m moving to Austin, TX for personal reasons and I’ll be working with starting late February! I will still be keeping my MI license and luckily telehealth rules have changed, so I will be able to see therapy clients in both states😁👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

The biggest takeaway from the “journey” leading up to this moment, for now, is the beauty that can come from taking a leap like this even when “things are good”.

I love the saying “wherever you go, there you are”. There’s no running from yourself, so if you’re going somewhere new to shake things up or “start over”, make sure you’re going toward something. And this is where your inner guidance comes in.

This decision took me 2 months to commit to, 2 more months of shedding many layers of who I thought I was, and 2 more to get all the ducks in a row. And all the while, through plenty of fear and stress that I can see now was unnecessary, I got to know my inner guidance so deeply, your best friend that’s always been there for you and always will be.

I love looking back now and seeing how, yes there are so many ways one could go about all this, and I’m really happy about how I did.

I’m happy for the many parts of myself I met, tended to and cared for, and ultimately integrated. I’m happy for all the false versions of me that fell away. So much internal change occurred that the timing of this move is perfection as I now get to embrace this unfamiliar me in unfamiliar spaces, getting a lovely opportunity to play around with identity, intention, and sustainably creating my reality.

I’m set up for amazing mentorship and growth with my profession, as well as my personal and spiritual development. So much opportunity to embrace potential as current truth.

I’m excited for the challenges that will come from this next chapter and getting a chance to apply what I learned here in that challenges are as “hard” as we choose to make them in our mind. Whatever is hard can be softened into and surrendered to, and there is where your gems are💎

It’s funny how the moment we bloom, our perspective shifts immediately, and how quickly life can pivot. When you couldn’t have seen what you see now without everything it took to get to that moment, only to realize this wasn’t what you needed or what you thought it was, or you were following a red herring with a thread of truth. There’s plenty of tropes and fables that teach us of this phenomenon. And I’ve been talking about it with my clients a lot lately.

In that moment, you see how silly it is to try to predict, because you see how much your mind could have never conceived of because it wasn’t a part of your reality yet. But the mind tries anyway.

All you can do is follow your inner guidance and try your best to go with the flow and not attach too much. Much easier said than done. But that’s been my major lessons these last 6 months, all the places I can let go.

My efforts creating this business aren’t in vain, but are needing adjustments already. I just accepted a job joining the group practice in Austin, TX, perfectly timed to start after my move is complete in February. A lot of what I envisioned myself doing here can be supported by them under their business, and right now that is what I learned I really needed and wanted, support and mentorship and skill development.

I want to develop new skills like group facilitation and supervision. I want to strengthen my clinical skills to better serve my clients. I know how I learn best, and jumping into the deep end alone is not it, yet I’m happy I tried that route to confirm it. Deep Eddy not only has the consistent training and groups that I’m craving, but also the staff and the capacity to support and encourage my own projects.

It seems to be the happy both/and of doing my own thing and having help. It’s a step forward toward the independence I know will come in due time, and now I have much more patience and appreciation for this phase now that I see it clearly.

while this page/business will continue, the roles I will be and the services offered will change.

But one step at a time. Right now, I’m just in deep, deep gratitude. Stay tuned for more twists and turns🤪

I was on a walk with my sister to my favorite nature preserve. Just rambling, I commented on how different it looks with everything dying, and I’m grateful my sister chose to correct me in her response “everything is dormant” and helped me pause and hear myself.

How we frame things matters, our words matter, and I’m very much still learning about blind spots in what I’m affirming in my word choices.

How do we talk about what we are experiencing, what is happening in our reality, in a way that doesn’t perpetuate the energy of the thing we are trying to end? We need to acknowledge and recognize what is and what has been so we know what to change. But there’s also a way where we bury ourselves in identifying with the reality we don’t want to continue.

In this moment of collective change, we are ALL messily learning how to discuss the genocides occurring around the world and specifically in Palestine, and what to do about it.

How can we frame our sense of helplessness. anger. grief. Our overwhelm, distrust, fear. So that it helps us move through all these emotions to find clarity and direction and strength on the other side, not just loop and feed into the emotions that we aren’t biologically designed to have linger in our bodies this long.

I don’t have answers, and I’d love to hear your thoughts.

But to reference my favorite book again, Sacred Instructions by Sherri Mitchell, she talks about the 80/10/10 rule.

10% of our energy goes to divesting ourselves from what we no longer want, let it starve and die naturally.

10% of our energy goes to actively protecting ourselves and stopping continued harm coming from the things we are divesting from as they die and fight to survive. This is protective, not initiatory. Protecting our homes and communities and our bodies from continued harm is essential.

That leaves 80% of our energy to go to what we want to create, what we want to see more of, what we want to be together.

It’s easy for me to slip out of balance of these percentages when emotions overwhelm. When grief and fear rule over me.

It’s a process that I’m happy to be learning with you all.

Mitakuye oyasin 🤍 to all my relations

Hello whoever is reading this! Welcome to my page for my business, Inner Light Wellness Services.

I’m a therapist and life coach jumping off into the abyss of entrepreneurship! I’m happy to offer my services to you all and ready for this space to grow and evolve as I do.

Right now my first step is hosting a workshop to help us explore what boundaries truly are and how we can use them to connect more authentically with our loved ones going into this holiday season! Especially if this has been a struggle in the past, or you’re feeling some dread around upcoming gatherings, this workshop is for you.

Additionally I’m offering discounted private sessions of $44-$77 to help folks in a financially accessible way when we know we’re gearing up for lots of financial expectations up to the new year and maybe only need a talk or two and not starting a longer program or choosing to invest themselves deeply into therapy just yet. Also great to give as a gift 😊

The workshop is set for November 21 at 6:30pm - 8:30pm EST, you can sign up by checking out my events page and following the button to book!
