Today is International Trans Day of Visibility. 🏳️⚧️
Across the U.S., trans people are navigating increasing barriers to healthcare, legal recognition, and safety. These policies are not just political, they shape people’s daily lives, mental health, and sense of possibility. I see the impact of this in the therapy room regularly.
Trans people continue to exist, create, love, lead, and build meaningful lives and communities. There is joy here. There is resilience here. There is so much life here.
Days like today matter not because trans people need permission to exist, but because visibility, in the face of erasure, is powerful.
Trans people deserve access to affirming care.
They deserve safety and dignity.
They deserve to live full, expansive lives (just like anyone else).
As a cis therapist, I want to be transparent about my position while also staying committed to doing this work with care, humility, and accountability.
If you are trans: I see you, and I’m so glad you’re here.
If you love someone who is trans: your presence matters.
If you’re learning: keep going.
