Design Crisis

Design Crisis I take pictures, decorate, and raise two wild boys. I like weird art, antique rugs, italian lighting, pinch pleats, and brasssss. I like you, too. I won’t be mad.

Hi there, I’m Erin Williamson. Karly Hand and I started this here blog almost six years ago. Karly left to direct Verb hair care products, but I’m still here. Entertaining you. Keeping/not keeping myself out of trouble. When not writing for Design Crisis or wilting in the Austin sun with my husband Ben, four year old son Ike, and wee baby Luke, I am working as a decorator and commercial photographer. A long time ago I went to school and earned a BA in literature and an MFA in photography. After that I spent five years teaching college and high school photography. Since then I have showed my personal artwork at galleries and museums from coast to coast. My commercial photography work has been published in Lucky Magazine, The New York Times, Parenting, Ladies Home Journal, The Austin American Statesman, and The Dallas Morning News, among others. My decorating projects have been featured on leading design sites like Apartment Therapy, Notcot, and Pop Sugar. In 2013 Design Crisis was named one of the seven best home renovation blogs by Glo. Recently my home was featured on YNN network’s television show House Proud and published in Bungalow Magazine. Next year it will appear in Apartment Therapy’s new book, featuring photographs by Melanie Acevedo. Also, I am very nice. You can hire me for your projects.
