This Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating the women who have helped shape the field of Applied Behavior Analysis and who continue to move it forward every day.
ABA is more than a science. It’s a community built on compassion, creativity, and dedication, and so much of that has been led by women.
Pioneers like Lynn Koegel helped develop Pivotal Response Treatment back in the 1970s. Sally Rogers and Geraldine Dawson later co-created the Early Start Denver Model. Their work changed the way we support children and adults by making care more natural and relationship focused.
Leaders like Devon Sundberg have carried that work forward by building organizations like the Behavior Analysis Center for Autism and creating spaces such as the Women in Behavior Analysis Conference.
Innovators like Nancy Wagner have expanded access to individualized, high quality care through specialized centers.
Today, that impact is seen in the women leading teams, supporting families, mentoring new clinicians, and showing up every single day to make a difference. Women like Shaden Kassar and Meghann Mitchell continue to push the field toward more compassionate, person centered care.
To the BCBAs, RBTs, practice owners, and leaders in our community, thank you. Your impact goes far beyond sessions and data. You are changing lives.
Here’s to the women who built the field and the women shaping its future.
