Salaam and welcome! I’m Shanada—wife, mom of 7, and founder of Ummpowered Birth and Wellness.

I started this work after becoming a mother and realizing how overwhelming pregnancy, birth, and postpartum can be—especially when you don’t have the right support. I became a doula to be the kind of help I wish I had: someone who understands your values, holds space for your emotions, and reminds you that you're not alone.

The truth is, pregnancy and postpartum can bring a lot of joy—but also stress, fear, and uncertainty. So many families are navigating it all without guidance or care that truly sees them. Doulas make a difference by offering calm, comfort, and connection during one of life’s biggest transitions.

And we need more of us.
..More Muslim doulas...more doulas of color...more voices and hearts that reflect and support us...More doulas who reflect our communities and center US. That’s what Ummpowered is all about—supporting families and raising up a new generation of birth workers who are rooted in compassion, knowledge, and deen.
