Today, let’s celebrate who we are beyond the roles we play.

Therapeutic Touch... Touch is the first and most significant element we receive when coming into this world. As we age and the disease of Alzheimer’s or other forms of Dementia come into our lives touch seems to go away.
Of course, theres touch to assist our loved ones with the needs of the day....dressing, showers, eating. But, hugs or holding hands, snuggling- the connection of Touch, seem to fade away.
Twisted Root Medical Massage brings Therapeutic Touch/Touch Therapy into the clients day. Touch Therapy holds space for the client when he/she can not do it for themselves. It brings touch into the clients day without any expectations from the client. The therapist is there to approach the client and build a trusting bond that allows the familiarity of Touch, the most innate human need. The therapist brings relaxation thru touch a gentle but firm touch always aware of the clients medical conditions.
This service is for the client with the disease as well as the Care Partner (son, daughter, spouse, sibling) that has watched and endured the changes in their relationship with this person and probably never saw it coming.
Care Partner services allow the individual a safe place to reconnect with self to reconnect to touch that was probably thought to be lost forever. Touch can rejuvenate the sense of self and remind the Care Partner they are not by themselves and the LMT can hold space for them, until they are ready and able to reconnect to self awareness. To begin to work out stresses, soreness, tension....Tension.
Twisted Root is owned and operated by a Geriatric nurse of twenty five years, Joy Rodgers LMT/CGMT. Well aware of how to approach an individual with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
Joy, included massage into her career because of what is missing in nursing. The care is there but Touch with Intension was not. Patients in wheelchairs, geri chairs or on the couch...forward head, rolled shoulders, leaning to one side......massage can assist with chronic pain, anxiety, depression, behaviors, constipation.
Twisted Root Medical Massage serves Assisted Livings, Long Term Care Communities, and Private Homes. The client remains clothed, no climbing on and off a massage table, massage performed wherever the client is most comfortable.
