“I was in the system for over a decade and didn’t know what seems now as very simple and intuitive systems that helped my pain and outlook. The biggest symptom of my pain—the burning in my legs and thighs—has completely gone. I feel kinder to myself and more at ease since learning what really causes pain.” – Jordan

Before coaching, Jordan felt trapped by chronic pain and fatigue, with every day feeling like a mountain to climb. Therapy, many different medications, and lifestyle changes had not moved the dial.

Here’s what changed:
💡 Understanding the science of pain—how the brain and body communicate.
💡 Learning how to calm the nervous system and retrain the brain’s protective responses.
💡 Building self-compassion and releasing fear around pain.

The result? A huge reduction in Fibromyalgia symptoms greater emotional ease, and a newfound ability to manage their symptoms without fear.

🚨 Pain isn’t just physical—it’s your brain’s protective mechanism. And the good news is, you can retrain it. Jordan now has less pain, and feels more equipped, more at ease, and more empowered to live a full life.

🧠 Fibromyalgia is not a life sentence. It responds very well to this method as it is primarily a disorder of central sensitization - an over protective brain.

Phantom limb pain is a reminder that pain isn’t just in the body—it’s in the brain. Imagine your brain still sending pain signals for a limb that’s no longer there! But here’s the good news: if the brain can create pain, it can also learn to let it go.

Meditation, somatic tracking, and brain retraining aren’t just coping tools; they actually help rewire those pain circuits. It’s like giving your brain a chance to hit the ‘reset’ button. Real relief is possible when we shift how we respond to pain signals and focus on calming the nervous system.

If you’re ready to explore this further, coaching can help. In our sessions, we’ll dive into your specific patterns and create a personalized plan to retrain your brain for healing—one that’s compassionate, hopeful, and built to last.

Ever notice that when you’re doing something you love or on vacation, your pain seems to fade into the background? Maybe it disappears completely. For a moment, it’s not the centre of your world? It’s not a fluke.

But most of the time - pain takes over. You’ve probably had countless tests that come back ‘clear,’ yet the pain is still there, like an unwelcome companion. It’s the first thing you think about when you wake up, and it’s always lingering in the background, affecting every move you make. You find yourself constantly micromanaging it, trying to fix it, worrying about when it’ll flare up again. It’s exhausting.

The thing is, chronic pain isn’t just about injury or damage to your physical body. The new neuroscience of pain shows that alot of the time, it’s tied to how your brain and nervous system are interpreting pain signals. When you’re stressed or hyper-focused on your pain, it sends signals to your brain that something is wrong, and the cycle continues. But when you’re relaxed, enjoying something, or feeling safe, your body stops sending those loud pain signals, and—surprise!—you feel a little lighter.

That’s why learning to calm your nervous system is so powerful. You can teach your brain and body to feel safe, even in your everyday life. When you do, those pain signals quiet down, and your world doesn’t have to revolve around pain anymore.

I’ve created a super simple, 8-minute tool to help you calm your nervous system and break that cycle of overthinking and micromanaging your pain. It’s quick, easy, and you can grab it for free through the link in my bio.

If you have pelvic pain, you are probably pretty convinced there's something going wrong down there. It certainly feels like there should be a disease process or abnormality to blame for the sensations you experience.

This study showed a central sensitization component to pelvic pain. Meaning, your brain and nervous system is making a mistake. Like a fire alarm going off when you burn toast.

my case and many other clients I have worked with, their pain went away with brain retraining because it was never due to physical issues. Especially if you have inconclusive findings in imaging, it is much more likely that your brain is hypersensitive than there is a pathology.

These changes can be reversed because our amazing brains are constantly reshaping themselves. New circuits can be made, sensory neurons can be pruned back - by thought and behaviour change alone. This is what we work on together in coaching and can be the path to freedom from chronic pelvic pain and symptoms.

There are many plausible physical or structural root causes for chronic pain. We may also have beliefs that we should expect to have this pain because of genetics, diagnosed conditions, "wear and tear" or our age.

It is not that simple. Pain can be from these issues OR they can be a red herring that keeps you chasing solutions that will never work.

The brain and nervous system are the root of all pain. Therefore, pain can have absolutely no physical cause. A hypervigilant brain, unprocessed trauma, chronic sympathetic arousal can all cause over sensitization of the pain signalling system in the brain.

If you have chronic pain, it's time to dive below the surface and understand these hidden factors.

Allow me to re-introduce myself... My work has massively evolved in the past few years and I thought it time to outline what I do and why. What got me here is my life experience with pain and illness. There is suffering everywhere, more of us than ever are dealing with chronic health issues. The lack of understanding and support is something that breaks my heart. I know the pain. I know the loneliness. I know the darkness and the struggle. Yet there is also beauty and meaning in all of it. Helping people access their agency and leverage difficult experiences into growth is what lights my 🔥.

There is a new way to treat chronic pain and I want to tell you all about it! Because conventional treatment for chronic pain is in the dark ages... It's about "management" and learning how to live with it. When what modern pain science is showing is that it's possible to actually turn pain off at its source - the brain. This happened for me and I help people do this every day. There is hope!

Hello lovely people, anyone there?! It was 2021 when I last posted ...!

Quite a bit has changed. I have been beavering away with more training and coaching clients, I moved to Austin, Texas and all the while I have continued to prioritise and work inwards on improving my health.

Chronic illness and pain is no longer a significant part of my life. I can't tell you how amazing it feels to say that.

Through experimentation, unwavering belief and the support of some extraordinary people, I continue to unlock new levels of wellbeing that I previously dreamed of. Its wild!

It has not been easy. But it is a journey I am so thankful for. It's a beautiful thing to witness the innate wisdom and ability of the body to heal itself. I continue to learn in absolute awe.

Now over to you:

I know from bitter experience how much conventional medicine is failing those with chronic pain and illness. And how much living with these conditions negatively impacts your quality of life. It is my mission to help you break free from this prison.

Therefore I am putting together a free online coaching offering for those afflicted by persistent pain. This is pain that has lasted longer than 6 months. You may also have other conditions as pain and illness are bedfellows... but pain will be the focus of this case study. In return you will give feedback on your experience so I can refine the offering.

The method I am creating is based on the latest neuroscience on chronic pain. It is no exaggeration to say that this is a paradigm shift in this area. It is not about managing your pain better... It is a path to becoming pain free by addressing the root cause - the brain.

If you, or someone you know is interested in being part of this FREE case study, please direct message or email me at alex@alexwetz.com for more details.

And if you made it this far, thank you for reading! Here is a photo of me in Morocco recently - living the dream! :)

Christmas Charity Pilates Class! 🎅✨

Whatever your thoughts are on the run up to Christmas, it can be a very hectic time with lots to organise and little time for you. So why not book in an oasis for yourself now and get fitter and stronger in the process.

The first half of the class will start with energising, strengthening moves focused primarily on core strength and postural muscles. There may be some Christmas music…! This will transition into gentle stretching, breath work and a mindfulness meditation to leave you aligned, relaxed and ready for a great nights sleep. You’ll forget all about your to do list!

This class is open to all and the more the merrier! It’s a great activity to share with loved ones or friends so please feel free to invite them along, no previous pilates experience needed. Its one of the few things you can do together in December that actually supports your immunity and is omicron safe…!

The best bit is that by attending this class you are donating to Action for Children https://www.actionforchildren.org.uk/ and you will be a Secret Santa for a vulnerable child providing them with food, warm clothes or a gift this Christmas.
