Today I spoke to Michael’s class about being a bilingual speech pathologist and read a story with repetitive text to the class. The kids asked very good questions and hopefully thought my job was as cool as I think it is! Afterwards, Michael and I went to our favorite little bookstore and ate ice cream at our local ice cream shop while we read our new books! A perfect start to the weekend 🥰📚

“The Rooster Who Would Not Be Quiet!” By Carmen Agra Deedy is one of my favorite children’s books. Written in English, it is the inspiring story of a little rooster who, against the wishes of the ill-tempered mayor, speaks for those who can’t speak for themselves. It has the occasional use of Spanish words such as: gallito (rooster), Paz (peace), claro (of course), adios (good bye). This book is filled with colorful illustrations and uses onomatopoeia in a fun repetitive way throughout the book. Highly recommend this book for both the plot and illustrations!

Hi friends! I have discovered a passion for writing children’s bilingual picture books! I have written several books and have many ideas waiting to get on paper. I have started the process of querying literary agents and publishing houses with the hopes of getting these books into the hands of young children everywhere! Join me on my journey as I try to get published. I’ll share the ins and out of publishing. What worked and what didn’t. I’ll also share some of my favorite inspirations along the way! Thanks for going on this ride with me! 🖊️📚

“Aphasia is not hopeless. With the help of rehabilitation intervention provided by a speech-language pathologist people with aphasia from a stroke or other brain injury improve in big and small ways, as long as their brain remains healthy. Time, activity, and treatment help. SLPs partner with people with aphasia and their families to improve communication skills and develop strategies to support their communication strengths.”

While aphasia is a newsworthy event in the lives of more than 2 million Americans, it’s not a condition that most people understand unless they had a friend or family member experience it. The difficult news of actor Bruce Willis’s aphasia diagnosis has made international headlines and o...
