Due to recent changes with the FDA and their decision that Wegovy (Semaglutide) is no longer on shortage, we will no longer be able to prescribe compounded semaglutide after April 22nd. There is a lawsuit currently pending between the FDA and Compounding Pharmacies, so things may change and we are monitoring this. However, at this time our deadline to prescribe Semaglutide is April 22nd. We do understand that some prescribers and pharmacies will continue to prescribe and fill compounded semaglutide, and if you switch providers and need any information from us for dosing you are on currently please contact the office. However, our office will not continue to prescribe unless things changes with the FDA and/or Lawsuit, we do not want to risk getting sued by the drug manufacturer.
After this date, other options will be to prescribe name brand for Wegovy and Zepbound ($499 for a four week supply direct from manufacturer). If your health insurance covers Wegovy or Zepbound our providers are willing to complete a Prior Authorization with a visit. In order to determine if your insurance does cover these medication, you will need to contact them directly as we have no way to determine this.
Another option will be switching to Liraglutide (Saxenda), as it still on the shortage list. However, this is a daily injection and we currently have only been able to find at a pharmacy in Fort Worth that is pick up only.
We do also offer Metformin, Topamax Phentermine (Phentermine does require an office visit, EKG and urine drug screen - these can all be completed at our office), and Contrave for weight loss as well.
