There is a reason people often get inspired to start spring cleaning this time of year. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), spring is the time of creating, cleansing, activity and movement, growth, and renewal.
In Traditional Chinese 5-Element Theory, spring is associated with the Wood element. The wood energy of the season wants us to rise up and get things done. Itβs active and energetic, and supports vision, creativity, and leadership. This is the time of year to work on any blockages, so we can have access to all that great energy.
Itβs also the perfect time to focus on releasing emotions that no longer serve usβspecifically those rooted in anger, resentment, frustration, and lack of energy and enthusiasm. Just like bare, dormant trees start to grow buds and blossom, we too can use the power of spring to bring on better health, mental clarity, and emotional well-being.
For the next few days, we're going to focus on TCM and the best things to do in the spring. Stay tuned. π
