Let me introduce you to Jasper, the newest member to the AY Tribe!
It took me a couple of months to post this because we were grieving, but also integrating him into the family. Stella cannot be an only dog! Jasper has some big shoes to fill! 💕
A friend told me when we brought him home a little sooner than I wanted after Brinley passed that “you are not replacing Brinley, but simply filling your house with love again” and that really resonated with me. So welcome home little man!! You’re in for an adventure!

Self care and personal wellness in the veterinary profession are all too often overlooked. Here are 5 mindfulness tips to help:

✨Morning check-in: Before checking emails, messages or even scrolling social media, start each day with a 5-10 minute mindfulness meditation to set intentions & reduce stress. Apps like Calm or Headspace can help or do your own.

✨Breathwork: Deep breathing or box breathing can help during stressful moments or between appointments or tasks to calm your mind.

✨Gratitude practice: Journal or reflect on at least 3 things you’re grateful for each day.

✨Regular movement: yoga or even incorporating stretches or light exercises throughout the day.

✨Stay hydrated: Be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

🌿Here are some sustainability practices for outdoor-loving yoga practitioners to embrace at home and on the go.

1. Eco-Friendly Yoga Practice

🌻 Use Sustainable Gear: Invest in a yoga mat made from natural materials like cork, natural rubber, or jute. Avoid PVC-based mats. I sometimes even use my Sand Cloud or Teema Towels, especially when travelling.

🌻 Eco-Conscious Clothing: Choose yoga wear made from organic or recycled fabrics.

🌻 Practice Outdoors: When possible, take your practice outside (my favorite place) to reduce energy usage for heating, cooling, or lighting indoors.

2. Sustainable Practices During Yoga

🌻 Use Candles or Solar Lights: Replace electric lighting indoors with candles or solar-powered lanterns for a tranquil ambiance.

🌻 Incorporate Nature-Inspire Rituals: Use dried local/homegrown herbs like sage and/or palo santo from sustainable sources to cleanse your space.

3. Align with Nature

🌻 Seasonal Practice: Adapt your yoga & meditation to align with the seasons, honoring natural cycles.

🌻 Natural Sounds: Replace electronic music or timers with the sounds of nature, such as birdsong or flowing water.

4. Practice Gratitude for the Planet

🌻 Earth-Centered Intentions: Begin or end your session with gratitude for nature & Pachamama & set intentions to live more sustainably.

🌻 Mindful Consumption: Carry the mindfulness from your practice into your daily habits, making choices that support sustainability.

By integrating these practices and others like them into your daily life, you can align your yoga & meditation practice with a deeper respect for the Earth/Pachamama, deepen your connection with nature & cultivate harmony in your life. 🌎

In the whisper of the waves, secrets told,
The ocean’s heart, vast and deep and bold.
A world beneath where mysteries unfold,
In each tides retreat, stories of old.

I’m not sure who wrote this but it is beautiful.

While there wasn’t any scuba diving on this trip, we still had to explore and get in the water. Swimming and scuba diving in the water are just other forms of moving meditation for me. When all you can hear is your breath in the form of tiny bubbles and connect with creatures most people may never see. Just another way of connecting to nature for me.

I know I have been neglectful in my business these last several months, but I have still been here on a low key level. To be honest and to keep with my integrity and be able to hold space for others, I needed this time. I have been moving through my own personal journey with family matters, money matters, and my own healing that I wasn’t ready to continue helping large groups of others over these months. I am always trying to provide an authentic experience for my tribe and quite honestly I wasn’t in that space at the time, but now I am feeling like it’s time again and that I am able to hold space.
I am still offering 1:1 yoga & meditation sessions online via Zoom. DM me if interested.
I am working on getting back into in person group classes so stay tuned. I am working on bringing a new website and app to life that will take some more time. We are also working on improvements on the homestead and retreats and camping will be coming again soon so stay tuned for that.
In the meantime, I wish everyone well and I hope to see you both on and off the mat.
