Less Teeth. More Legend.

Not every dog ages quietly.

Some creak when they walk.
Some grunt when they stand up.
Some come with one tooth, three prescriptions, a heating pad preference, and very strong opinions about bedtime.

And some get overlooked because of it and we find that unacceptable.

The Crusty Souls Society is Saving With Soul’s senior dog initiative built specifically for the medically magnificent, structurally questionable, unapologetically seasoned dogs others hesitate over.

The limpers.
The cloudy-eyed.
The “he’s on how many medications?”
The “don’t startle her after 8pm.”

We take them in.
We tackle the arthritis.
We manage the spreadsheets of prescriptions.
We normalize the grunt.
We do not fear the smell.

Some will be adopted by brave humans who understand that love sometimes comes with a pill organizer.
Some will receive hospice care done right — warm, safe, and fully adored.

Because senior dogs are not “too much.”

They are legends with maintenance requirements.

A little over a year ago, we brought our first PUP into what would be known as The PUPStop by Saving with Soul Pet Rescue. His name was Paw Paw and he came to us from the Walton County Animal Services, Florida where his chances for rescue or adoption were slim due to his age and medical condition. Of COURSE we grabbed him right away and gave him full access of our newly acquired building at the old Mickey's Pit Stop in Baker.

Paw Paw had some, um, interesting medical challenges but they didn't bother him at all. He had a deformity to his male parts that a vet described as "h*ng like a bull" due to an inappropriate angle (which also caused him to spray urine when he tinkled like a shower head). He also had an eye deformity and absolutely dreadful skin.

Paw Paw lived happily with the rescue for about 7 months until one morning when he was found passed away in his bed at his foster home. We believe he suffered an acute case of bloat overnight and passed quickly.

We were heartbroken to lose our Paw Paw but happy that we were able to give him many months of love and devotion.

While we are at no risk of ever forgetting our Paw Paw, we would LOVE to memorialize his time with us in our 2025 Website Renovation where we are updating our website with new pictures of pets adopted or fostered through Saving with Soul Pet Rescue of NW Florida.

She seems to have some neurological defects and she has clearly been neglected, but her life is looking up now that she's here with us The PUPStop by Saving with Soul Pet Rescue Phleabe had the best day today playing with visitors!
