Dallas Tanner, a U.S. Army veteran, came to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Nittany Valley in Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania after having a stroke. He had left-sided weakness and was fully dependent on others for walking and self-care.

After a month of physical, occupational and speech therapy with our team, Dallas returned home able to care for himself and walk with a walker. He hopes to be back in the gym lifting weights soon.

When Sean arrived at our Encompass Health hospital in Cypress, Texas after having a stroke, he needed help standing, walking and completing daily activities. Through his determination, perseverance and strong partnership with the therapy team. Sean made extraordinary progress. By discharge, he was able to walk long distances using a walker and regained independence in his daily activities.

After having a stroke, Teresa Wilkes was admitted to our Encompass Health hospital in Savannah, Georgia with weakness and difficulty speaking and swallowing. During speech therapy, Teresa participated a treatment using electrical stimulation and resistive exercises to promote safe eating and swallowing. Thanks to her hard work and determination, Teresa regained her ability to swallow safely and became fully independent with her mobility. She discharged home with a smile! Amanda came to our Encompass Health hospital in Fitchburg, Wisconsin for rehabilitation following a below-the-knee amputation. During her prosthetic training, she worked with our therapy team to improve her balance, practice safety skills and reduce her reliance on a walker.

Today, we celebrated the grand opening of our newest hospital! Located in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, this 50-bed rehabilitation hospital will provide life-changing care to those recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations and other complex orthopedic and neurological conditions.

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Concordville marks our 10th location in Pennsylvania. It is expected to begin serving patients in early May.

We are proud of our continued growth across the country. By providing greater access to rehabilitation, we are helping individuals recovering from serious illnesses and injuries get back to their lives and to what matters most to them.

Encompass Health is proud to partner with Cookeville Regional Medical Center to build a freestanding, 40‑bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital on the CRMC campus in Cookeville, Tennessee.
The 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital will serve individuals recovering from stroke, neurological conditions, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic needs, expanding access to specialized rehabilitation care in the Upper Cumberland region.
This hospital will be Encompass Health’s 12th location in Tennessee and part of our national network of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals.

Carlos Alberto, a 35‑year‑old worker, skateboarder and fisherman, has shown remarkable strength following a sudden medical crisis and major brain surgery. As a result, he had impairments affecting the right side of his body, as well as his memory and speech. Carlos’ family advocated tirelessly to ensure he received the intensive rehabilitation he needed.. Because of their determination, Carlos was able to come to Encompass Health Bakersfield, where he began rebuilding hope and independence.

Carlos has incorporated skateboarding into his therapy as he aims to return to the things he loves. We are honored to support Carlos and his family as he continues working toward his recovery.

Amir Meshreky has been appointed chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Bakersfield.

“Having spent more than a decade at Encompass Health Bakersfield, I’ve seen the life‑changing impact of high‑quality rehabilitative care,” Amir said. “I look forward to building on our strong clinical foundation and ensuring our patients receive the care they deserve.”

A pharmacist by training, Amir brings more than 25 years of progressive leadership experience spanning pharmacy administration, business development and hospital operations. He previously served as associate administrator and business development director for the hospital and joined Encompass Health in 2013 as director of pharmacy.
