We’ve got TWO certified legends in the house today!

💥First, a donor who just joined the 18 Gallon Club — that’s 144 pints of lifesaving goodness flowing through Kern County thanks to him. He may have worn his Just Donate t-shirt today, but we're pretty sure he just left his cape in the car.

💪 Next up rocking the best mustache we've seen in a while... this donor just hit 3 Gallons! That’s 24 pints of kindness, commitment, and a whole lot of heart. ❤️

"24 Years Later, We Remember"

Today, we pause to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

In the hours and days that followed, many in our Kern County community stepped forward, without being asked, to donate blood.

For some, it felt like the only way to help during such an uncertain time.

It was a time of fear and uncertainty, but also of generosity and unity. It reminded us how powerful a community can be when we come together for the greater good.

❤️ Honoring Kevin’s Commitment to Giving Back ❤️

Kevin has been a long-time blood donor, but when his cancer diagnosis meant he needed to put blood donation on pause, he didn’t stop giving. Instead, he partnered with us to host an in-house blood drive, turning his passion into a way for others to save lives.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support the 2nd Annual Kevin Ormonde Blood Drive! Each pint of blood can save up to three lives, and together, we made a real impact! 😀

We are grateful to Kevin for inspiring this blood drive and to everyone who joined us to honor his commitment to giving back.

🌳✨ Exciting things are happening in Shafter! ✨🌳

Pictured here is the official groundbreaking for a brand-new 5-acre park set to open in summer 2026. The City of Shafter recently partnered with us to host a blood drive that brought in 77 units of lifesaving blood, welcomed 87 donors, and celebrated 48 first-time donors who are now part of our lifesaving community.

A huge thank you to the City of Shafter for their commitment to saving lives and congratulations on this wonderful new park! 🩸❤️🌳

Only volunteer donors can provide blood, platelets and plasma for transfusion to patients in need. Our caring staff will take good care of you, and donation takes about an hour the first time. We are always looking for new donors, and love to see returning donors as well. People live when people give at Houchin Community Blood Bank!
