You don’t need to be less reactive—you actually need to be better at it.

Some version it always comes up with new clients: “I just want to be less

reactive.” Not less hurt. Not less unseen. Just…less reactive.

Sometimes it’s buried under paragraphs of context. Sometimes it’s the whole

damn paragraph. Either way, it’s one of the most common reasons my clients

cite for starting therapy—the thing they think will make everything feel

more manageable.

Learn why reactivity isn't the enemy and how an IFS therapist in St Louis, MO can help you lead your emotions with clarity. Avoid suppression or fear today.

It’s always interesting to me what happens internally for me in

conversations where people find out I’m a therapist. Usually, they’ll ask

things like “Oh cool—what kind of therapy do you practice?”, or “So… what

kind of clients do you see?”

They’re simple questions. But I never quite know how to answer them in a

sentence or two, because the truth is, I don’t think in diagnoses or

demographics. I think in nervous systems. I think in spirals. I think in

her.

Feeling overwhelmed but holding it all together? Learn how IFS therapy in St. Louis, MO can help high-functioning women reconnect with themselves & find clarity

It’s 2:14AM. Your phone screen is burning holes in your face, you’ve got 17 tabs open and none of them are helping:

⁃ “Signs your marriage is over”
⁃ “How to know if your kids will survive a divorce”
⁃ “How to emotionally detach from your husband”
⁃ “What staying for the kids does to your nervous system”

And because every shame spirals need a sense of humor, a Buzzfeed quiz about what your Starbucks order says about your divorce risk. (You got “cold brew with almond milk,” which somehow made you cry harder. For reasons you don’t fully understand yet.)

Here’s what most of those articles won’t tell you: You’re not actually looking for an answer - you’re looking for relief.

From the guilt.
From the grief.
From the whiplash of feeling one thing in the morning and the opposite by dinner.

And you’re not gonna find it through more research.

Once upon a time, in a suburb not so far away, lived a woman named Brooke.

Brooke used to think being chill was her superpower. She was laid-back.

Easygoing and cool under pressure. She wore “go with the flow” like

armor—low maintenance, high maturity.

Brooke genuinely believed that not needing much made her helpful.

Thoughtful. Evolved, even. She took pride in how self-aware she was, how

good she'd become at anticipating what people needed before they asked. She

didn’t recognize it as self-abandonment, because it didn’t feel like

suppression—it felt like a skill.

Discover how therapy for women in St. Louis, MO helps you break people-pleasing patterns and reconnect with your true self, one honest moment at a time.

It starts small. You say what’s true. Or at least, you try - but it doesn’t

land right.

The pause afterward feels too long. They squint. Tilt their head. They

respond to the tone instead of the content. And suddenly you’re on your

back foot, scrambling to clarify a feeling that was clear before you spoke

it out loud.

Break the cycle of over-explaining and feel truly heard with support from a relationship counselor in St Louis, MO. Reconnect with your authentic self.

Some women leave their marriage and exhale for the first time in years. The weight lifts. They feel lighter, freer—like they finally have their life back.

But others leave and still feel stuck. Just as exhausted. Just as resentful. Just as unsure of themselves as they were before they walked away.

And you?

Some women leave their marriage and exhale for the first time in years. The weight lifts. They feel lighter, freer—like they finally have their life back. But others leave and still feel stuck. Just as exhausted. Just as resentful. Just as unsure of themselves as they were before they walked away.

WHEN EVERYTHING SUCKS BUT NOTHING IS WRONG

Think your “problems” don’t “qualify” for therapy? WRONG. There is literally no hierarchy for pain and suffering and most of my clients cry with relief when I assure them that life doesn’t have to be a dumpster fire sh*t storm in order for therapy to be beneficial.

It's the whole ounce-of-prevention-is-worth-a-pound-of-cure thing: getting help before the wheels totally fall off is way more beneficial in the long run - but I bet you already know that. If you're like my clients, you just need a little permission and a tinsy nudge to pull the trigger and ask for help.

This is your permission.

This is your nudge.
