Happy Senior Citizens Day!

At Keswick, we believe that you never stop growing, regardless of your age.

Take Virginia, for example. Since starting personal training at Keswick's Wise & Well Center in April 2024, she has dramatically improved her range of motion, strength, and confidence. She’s progressed from bodyweight exercises to deadlifting 60 pounds — and recently returned from a solo trip to Italy, where she tackled walking tours with narrow staircases, uneven paths, and crowded streets.

At 85, Virginia trains three times a week, working on strength, balance, and agility with equipment ranging from dumbbells and kettlebells to resistance bands and barbells. With every session, she’s not only getting stronger and more mobile, but she’s also smashing negative stereotypes of aging!

🎪Step right up! Keswick’s Recreation team recently brought the fun of the carnival to residents with an afternoon filled with music, games, prizes, sweet treats, and plenty of laughter. From cotton candy and popcorn to classic carnival games, the day was full of joy, connection, and community spirit.

A huge thank you to our team members for creating such a vibrant experience that sparked smiles all around! ☺️

Maya Britto joined Keswick this summer through the JHU Community Impact Internships Program - CIIP, which pairs JHU students with nonprofit organizations to gain real-world experience while serving the community.

At the CIIP Closing Reception, Maya expressed deep gratitude for her time at Keswick. She shared that her interactions with residents not only brightened her days but also transformed her perception of aging.

In a heartfelt speech, Maya spoke about Keswick’s vibrant community and how she saw its core values of connection, empathy, inclusion, and advocacy come to life each day. She was so inspired that she declared that Keswick is where she hopes to live when she is an older adult.

We are honored to have left such a lasting impression on Maya and hope every visitor leaves our campus feeling the same sense of warmth and belonging.

Sun Safety tip from Dr. Serina: Slip on your sunglasses before stepping out!

Not just a style statement—quality sunglasses protect your eyes and the delicate skin around them from harmful UV rays. UVA and UVB exposure can lead to premature aging, cataracts, macular degeneration, and even skin cancer on your eyelids

Falls are common in adults over 65 and about a third of older adults who live at home fall at least once per year.

An assessment is recommended yearly to determine fall risk level so that you and your healthcare provider can determine the best strategies to prevent falls and reduce your chance of injury. Assessment includes review of falls history, nutrition and medication review, Kinesis QTUG walk test, lower body strength test, and a balance test.

Please call 410-662-4363 for more information or to schedule your assessment!
