🌟 Advanced Practice in Action: Growing Clinical Skills & Leadership 🌟

At Johns Hopkins Medicine, we love celebrating the growth and innovation of our Advanced Practice Providers—and the incredible ways they support one another in learning and development. 💙

On March 20, 2026, an introductory ultrasound workshop was held in the Johns Hopkins Hospital Emergency Department for newly onboarding ED APPs and APP students.

This hands-on experience was organized by Jonathan Green, PA-C, a member of our 2024–2025 new graduate APP cohort, with guidance from ED Ultrasound Director Dr. Tiffany Fong.

Jonathan developed a strong interest in point-of-care ultrasound and, with the support and mentorship of leadership, turned that passion into a meaningful learning opportunity for his peers. 👏

This workshop not only helped build clinical ultrasound skills, but also highlighted the impact of APP-led collaboration, leadership, and innovation in improving patient care.

We’re excited to watch Jonathan continue to grow and to see the lasting impact of initiatives like this across our APP community!

đź’™ Supporting Our APPs from Day One đź’™

At Johns Hopkins Medicine, we are committed to setting our Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) up for success—building a strong foundation for confident, high-quality, patient-centered care from the very start.

As part of our Transition to Practice Program, newly onboarding APPs participate in immersive simulation (SIM) lab experiences. These hands-on sessions help strengthen clinical decision-making, teamwork, and real-world readiness in a safe and supportive environment.

We’re excited to share highlights from a recent SIM session led by Jess Peters, DNP, CRNP—Assistant Professor, Track Director for the DNP Adult-Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program, and Acute Care NP at Johns Hopkins. Her leadership helps bridge education and practice for our newest APPs in such a meaningful way.

These experiences are just one of the many ways we invest in our APP community and uphold excellence in patient care across our system. ✨

đź’™ Grateful Patient Spotlight đź’™

At Johns Hopkins Medicine, our Advanced Practice Providers make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients every day—and today, we’re proud to highlight Ta-Ya Lee, DNP, DAOM, PhD, MPH, MBA, CRNP, LAc, Dipl OM.

As an Internal Medicine provider with Johns Hopkins Medicine Primary VirtualCare, Dr. Lee exemplifies compassionate, patient-centered care—meeting patients where they are and ensuring they feel heard, supported, and empowered.

✨ Here’s what a grateful patient shared:

“She was very thorough and caring. I felt very comfortable and at ease with her, and she made me feel truly taken care of. I really, really liked her. She kept reminding me that I could call anytime before 7 PM, and that made me feel so supported. I never knew you could have physical therapy for vertigo—very enlightening.

Ta-Ya’s care has been essential during my cancer treatment. She has provided me with so many tools to ease the discomfort and suffering that can come with chemo, surgery, and radiation. I have recommended her to other cancer patients—the work she does is so needed. She cares for the whole person during some of the hardest experiences. Thank you, Dr. Lee!”

Moments like these reflect the impact of thoughtful, dedicated care and the meaningful connections our providers build with their patients every day. đź’™

👏 Dr. Lee, thank you for all that you do. Your work truly makes a difference.

đź’™ The Heart of the Practice: Reflections on Teamwork đź’™

At Johns Hopkins, Advanced Practice Providers are at the center of delivering high-quality, patient-centered care—and that care is never delivered alone.

We’re excited to share this thoughtful piece from CLOSLER:

🔗 The heart of the practice: a PA’s reflections on teamwork
https://closler.org/passion-in-the-medical-profession/the-heart-of-the-practice-a-pas-reflections-on-teamwork

✍️ Written by Carey DesJardins Roesler, PA-C, Orthopedic Surgery | Orthopedic Sports Medicine

This reflection highlights a powerful truth—exceptional care is built on strong, collaborative teams. From navigating complex clinical decisions to supporting one another through the challenges of healthcare, teamwork is at the heart of what we do every day.

At Johns Hopkins, our APPs live this out—partnering across disciplines, lifting each other up, and delivering compassionate, coordinated care to our patients. 💙

✨ Take a moment to read and reflect—and think about how teamwork shapes your own practice.
