As of 12:15 PM ET, the New York Times updated its story to show that the bill passed the Senate with a tie of 50/50 broken by JD Vance. This means the bill will now be returned to Congress. The next step is to contact our congressional representatives.

If the Big Beautiful Bill is passed, it will throw over sixteen million people off their health insurance, according to the Congressional Budget Office, by cutting Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act by over $1.1 trillion. Bottom line is that this legislation is the most significant attack on the health care needs of the American people in our country's history. Call now and ask them to vote NO to Medicaid cuts.

If you have private insurance or Medicare and think - this is NOT my fight - you are INCORRECT. The loss of Medicaid funding will result in the closure of rural hospitals, maternity services, and nursing homes. It will also result in 17% of the HCMA community losing access to their care providers, medications and device replacements. People will die unnecessarily.

It is imperative that you contact your congressional representative and Senator (it will likely have to go back to the Senate) and encourage them to vote NO.

We urge lawmakers to reject these short-sighted and harmful proposals and instead work to strengthen programs that are proven to save lives and lower long-term healthcare costs. At a time when kidney disease is on the rise and treatment costs are already straining families and health systems, now is not the time to introduce new barriers.
