After 2 life altering illness, he was humbled by the experience and felt it was time to create something impactful that e

very community needed and could utilize to their advantage. As the health issues caused a lot of financial loss, he knew that cost and value were 2 big things to a lot of people and he knew more places needed to focus more on the treatment and less on the profit. Through all that understanding and many people behind the mission, Save Heal Grow was born as a nonprofit organization as a 501c3.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. 💚🧠

At Save Heal Grow, we believe mental health support should be accessible, community-driven, and free from unnecessary barriers.

This month is about more than awareness — it is about:
• Breaking stigma
• Supporting one another
• Encouraging open conversations
• Building stronger communities
• Creating hope for those struggling in silence

Every conversation matters. Every act of kindness matters. Every life matters.

Together, we can continue planting seeds of healing, support, and long-term change in our communities.

MONDAY: 24-HOUR SOCIAL MEDIA BLACKOUT

We’re giving everyone plenty of notice because this Monday, May 11th, The JADFA House is challenging our community to participate in a 24-hour social media blackout.

Starting Monday at 12:00 a.m. until Tuesday at 12:00 a.m.:
No Facebook.
No Instagram.
No TikTok.
No scrolling.
No arguing online.
No obsessing over notifications.
Just one full day of being present in real life.

As we continue through Mental Health Awareness Month, we’ve been reflecting on how much social media impacts our mental health, relationships, attention spans, anxiety levels, and even the way we interact with each other.

We see so much division, comparison, negativity, noise, and constant stimulation online that sometimes we forget what it feels like to truly slow down and reconnect with real life.

And honestly if the thought of staying off social media for 24 hours feels impossible, that may be a sign that this challenge is exactly what we need. 👀

So for one day, we’re encouraging people to put the phone down and intentionally do something different.

Instead of scrolling, maybe:
• Go for a walk
• Spend time outside
• Read a book
• Paint or create something
• Listen to music
• Pray or journal
• Have dinner without your phone
• Spend quality time with family or friends
• Call someone instead of texting them

We would LOVE to see how many people are willing to participate with us.

If you’re in:
• Comment below
• And check the comments for a participation graphic you can post Sunday night to let others know you’re joining the blackout and encourage them to participate too.

We also want honest feedback before and after:
• Are you nervous about it?
• Do you think it’ll be easy or hard?
• What do you think you’ll miss most?
• How do you think you’ll feel afterward?

Then after the 24 hours, come back and tell us how it went.

Let’s see what happens when we disconnect from social media and reconnect with real life

We now officially have our Save Heal Grow Help Cards out in the community.

Due to wind and outdoor conditions, we’re placing a limited supply at select locations—but we’re excited to share that Terry, the owner of Skoops Ice Cream - Barberton, was kind enough to set some cards out for anyone who may need one.

If you’ve been looking for one, you can now stop by Scoops and grab yours while supplies last.

To our knowledge (unless anything has recently changed), you can also still find cards at:
• Just A Dad From Akron
• The JADFA House
• Veterinary Wellness Center in North Canton

These are available for anyone—whether it’s for you or someone you know.

We appreciate the local businesses and partners helping us get these into the community.

Anyone curious regarding our hardship cards. We have put a halt to them temporarily as we have been learning of places saying they would be willing to put them out and then learning they are not displaying them for the community to utilize.

So we are not wasting away the cards we have stopped putting them out until further notice.

Sorry for the delays!

Save Heal Grow continues to take meaningful steps forward in our mission to expand access to mental health education and community support resources.

Recently, we were honored to be considered for the Community Responsive Grant review through the Stark Community Foundation. Being included in the review process is an encouraging milestone for our organization as we work to build stronger support systems within our community.

In addition, we recently received a generous $100 donation from a community supporter who believes in the mission of Save Heal Grow. Early support like this helps us continue building initiatives focused on increasing awareness, reducing barriers to mental health education, and connecting individuals with helpful resources.

While many organizations provide important mental health services, cost and accessibility barriers still prevent many individuals from seeking help. Save Heal Grow is working to help address this gap by expanding free community education, outreach efforts, and resource connections for those in need.

We are grateful for the support we’ve already received and look forward to continuing to grow our impact within the community.

Save Heal Grow is currently looking for volunteer helpers who would like to participate in our biweekly or monthly education meetings.

These sessions will focus on preparing educational materials that go beyond typical counseling language. Our goal is to help the community better understand mental health from a practical, real-life perspective — including how it affects our daily lives, decision-making, relationships, work, and long-term well-being.

Volunteers will help us:

• Prepare structured educational content
• Assist in organizing meeting materials
• Support outreach and presentation prep
• Represent the Save Heal Grow mission with professionalism

Because we run live feeds for those who cannot attend in person, volunteers must be comfortable speaking in front of a small crowd and/or being recorded during sessions.

We believe education should be clear, responsible, and grounded — while reinforcing the importance of seeking proper professional help when needed.

If this interests you and you want to help build something meaningful in the community, we would love to connect.

The first box is filled.

Our Save Heal Grow Help Cards are officially packed and ready for distribution.

Over the next several weeks, we’ll be going around the community placing these in local businesses that want to participate. Each location will have a small stack available for anyone who needs one — for themselves or for a friend.

This is how we start building real, practical community presence.

If you own or manage a local business and would like to host a stack of cards, send us a message.
