Are the holidays bringing more anxiety than joy this year?
Maybe you’re feeling pressure to make everything perfect while quietly managing trauma triggers, family stress, or emotional exhaustion.

You’re not broken—and you’re not failing the season.
Sometimes the most healing choice is letting go of what the holidays are “supposed” to look like.

✨ In my latest blog, I explore how holiday perfectionism fuels anxiety and trauma responses—and how to find peace in the season you actually have.

Has trauma ever made you feel like a stranger to yourself?

Have you noticed a shift in how you see yourself after trauma or a major life event? Are you constantly doubting yourself, feeling like you are "too much" or "not enough," or losing touch with what you truly want or need? This is a normal response. It is your nervous system trying to keep you safe. And sometimes it can get in the way of living life.

The good news? Reclaiming your sense of self is possible. With the right support, you can reconnect with your voice, your values, and a more grounded sense of who you are beyond what happened to you. And learn how to manage your nervous system.
Swipe through to learn how trauma impacts identity and self-esteem—and why healing means separating "what happened to me" from "who I am."

💬 If this resonates, you're not alone. My latest blog dives deeper into rebuilding self-esteem and identity after trauma (link in bio), or reach out to schedule a free consultation.

Wondering who you are beyond what happened to you?

After trauma, many people ask not just ‘What happened to me?’ but ‘Who did I become to survive?’ It can feel like your identity has been swallowed by the past.

Reflective questions can gently open space between your story and your core self.

Try the journal prompts below:

Who did I have to become to stay safe back then?

Which parts of me feel authentic, and which feel like armor?

If I believed I was worthy right now, what would change—even 1%—in how I treat myself today?

You do not need to have all the answers. Start by noticing your responses and becoming aware of how you are feeling.

You’re not doing anything wrong if your mind suddenly “wakes up” the moment you try to fall asleep. You are not alone!

When the world finally gets quiet, your brain finally has space to process emotions, memories, and unfinished thoughts from the day. That processing is normal… it just doesn’t feel great at 11 pm.

In therapy, I often remind clients:

Your brain isn’t trying to sabotage your sleep.

It’s trying to protect you — it just doesn’t always pick the right timing.

Here are a few gentle ways to support a calmer mind at night:
✨ Try a 2–3 minute brain dump
Just bullet points — get the thoughts out of your head and onto paper.
✨ Create an “If-Then” plan
“If my thoughts start spiraling, then I’ll return to slow breathing for five minutes.”
✨ Shift into your senses
Notice the weight of the blanket, the texture of the sheets, the rise and fall of your breath.

These aren’t quick fixes, but they are skills — and they get easier with practice.

Why does my brain get louder at night?

If your thoughts start replaying old conversations, worries, or embarrassing moments the minute your head hits the pillow… you’re not alone.

Nighttime rumination is incredibly common — and it has real neuroscience behind it. When the world gets quiet, your brain finally has space to process the day. Sometimes it helps… but sometimes it turns into a mental loop that keeps you wide awake.

In my latest blog post, I break down:

✨ Why your mind replays memories at night
🧠 The brain science of “hippocampal replay”
💭 Why rumination feels productive but isn’t
😴 How this cycle impacts sleep
🛠️ Practical therapist-backed tools to calm your mind before bed

If you’re tired of lying awake with a busy brain, this post is for you.

You deserve rest — and it is possible to retrain your mind at night.
