So yes… we brought in our ace. ♠️ Meet Fernis, a highly intelligent Siberian Husky.

He is currently reviewing benefit checks, sniffing out bad data, and wondering why the payer swore “everything was loaded correctly.”

(We’re on it. Again.)

And apparently… some insurance carriers needed a little extra time to wake up ☕️😅

Benefits? Not loaded yet.
Coverage? Still thinking about it.

New Year’s can be unpredictable — we get it.

🍽️ Happy Festivus from the rest of us!

The EBS team gathered for the traditional airing of grievances.
Topics included:

1️⃣ Why modifier 95 (and GT) is redundant, unnecessary, and emotionally exhausting
2️⃣ According to recent feedback, there appears to be very little “E” in TPE (IYKYK)
3️⃣ Yes, we absolutely have the email confirming the provider is in-network
4️⃣ Did the insurance rep just whisper that the appeal is in the circular file…
—or was that a chicken clucking? 🐔
5️⃣ And finally, a formal grievance against the lighting streaks across some of our faces (because Festivus requires at least one grievance no one can fix)

This is BIG news for behavioral health providers here in Illinois: HB1085 signed into law - What it does:

• Sets a minimum reimbursement floor tied to Medicare
• Requires coverage for same-day behavioral health services
• Protects access to 60-minute psychotherapy (90837)
• Allows billing for supervised trainees & group providers
• Shortens insurer credentialing timelines

Description: Establishes a reimbursement rate floor for mental health and substance use disorder services, strengthening parity between physical and mental health care.
Action: Signed
Effective: June 1, 2026
