Reading Intervention 📚support includes:
Multiple Orton-Gillingham method reading interventions (IMSE, Orton-Gillingham approach and SPIRE) These interventions include an experience that is multi-sensory, structured, systematic, sequential within the reading program. 👀👆🏼👂

When we see a child’s tongue 👅 when they are speaking, eating, smiling etc that is a tongue thrust (commonly known as a lisp). *note the ONLY speech sound the tongue goes between the teeth for is TH*

A tongue thrust is a SYMPTOM of another problem.

After the last year of dedicating a significant amount of time, money and energy specializing in the area of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders, I decided to use my (very small) platform to document my own child’s journey moving forward. My intention is to educate families I work with, as well as other families in the area of the impact of OMDs.

Pictured is my newly 5 yo son with an expander. The most common question recently? WHY did you choose to expand your child SO YOUNG?!

He presents with a narrow palate, which means his tongue is on the floor of his mouth. Now why do I care about that? If a child’s tongue is on the floor of their mouth, their AIRWAY is compromised.

What’s my end game? The BEST functioning airway as EARLY as possible. Had I been more knowledgeable, I would have expanded as young as 3.

Why does AIRWAY matter? It impacts countless areas but to name a few: overall health, attention, speech, feeding abilities, and Orofacial growth. That’s a BIG deal.
