Dear Friend,
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I announce the closing down of The Acadian.
The past 6 years have been one of the greatest work experiences of my life. From a little leatherworking hobby to a full-blown business, I was able to learn so much about the industry I came to know and love.
Sadly, good fortune was not on my side. Between the pandemic derailing my initial growth plans, a divorce, an emergency surgery, the inability to scale, and an economy that has left consumers afraid to spend, The Acadian has, from the beginning, faced seemingly insurmountable obstacles. The straw that broke the camel’s back has left my company hobbled. Quite simply, I can no longer continue operating The Acadian.
Over the coming days, You’ll see the website shut down. I will more than likely not be attending any markets or shows this year.
If you have placed an order, please know that I am still working out a way to complete it and ship it to you. It just may take a bit longer. I appreciate your patience.
To my retailers, it has been an honor to have my products sold in your stores. You have no idea how good it feels to have your product selected from thousands of others to be shown on your shelves. Thank you so much.
To my friends in the crafts and making communities, thank you for the support, encouragement, and commiseration along the way. Without you, I would never have made it this far.
And to my customers, Thank You. Without your trust in my craft and your willingness to purchase something from an unknown, The Acadian would never have existed in the first place. Whether I met you in person at a craft show or we’ve emailed back and forth about a custom piece, it has always been an absolute pleasure to see the joy my products have brought to you.
While this may be the end of The Acadian, I do plan to continue on my maker’s journey, just in a less official way. One-offs, limited editions, custom work, and just things I happen to make along the way may come up for sale in the future.
For now, however, this is goodbye. Thank you for the wonderful memories.
Sincerely,
Chris Cavallari
