This studio concept of contrast yoga, (hot yoga + cold plunge) was born from the idea of the two fold way.

From a quote by the legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi:

“Every warrior should have a peaceful art as well as a killing art. This is the Two-Fold Way.”

In Musashi’s path, mastery meant balance — between stillness and action, breath and battle, fire and water.

That’s what we teach here.

This morning I was able to take some time and walk in the park with my kid, Gambit.. Qigong with the feet on the earth is one of my favorite and most healing practices. I do it minimum 5min per day sometimes for an hour.

Modern studies even show that grounding reduces inflammation, improves sleep, and balances cortisol. But long before science, the Taoists knew this. In Qigong, they speak of absorbing Earth’s qi through Yongquan, the bubbling spring point in the center of the foot. It’s no coincidence that it’s also the root of presence, balance, and energy.

Barefoot walking—also known as earthing or grounding—isn’t just a quirky habit; it’s a return to an ancient truth. Your feet have over 200,000 nerve endings, designed to feel the Earth. When we walk barefoot, we’re not just touching the ground—we’re plugging into a deeper intelligence. We’re telling our nervous system: “You’re safe. You’re home.” Which turns on the parasympathetic nervous system/ rest and digest.

Walking barefoot slows you down. It re-patterns your posture. It strengthens your arches, ankles, knees, hips. It activates the primal feedback loop between the body and Earth.

Most importantly, barefoot walking reconnects you with presence. Each step becomes a meditation. You begin to feel the story of the Earth, not just walk across it.

Back in 2008 I had my worst experiences with stress, as many others. I was living in Los Angeles shooting for multiple companies and suddenly they were nonexistent. I found myself with a studio, a significant other, and my dog Bodhi which I was no longer able to provide for.

Extreme back pain made it almost impossible to get out of bed, needless to say, there was much less hustle from me as I had been doing the many years before. It was at this time someone referred me to a healer. A chinese woman who channeled what she called “light” to my back.

After this experience I was able to move freely, touch my toes and.. Work.

With the desire to live closer to family and a new contract to photograph for an online clothing store we decided to move to Louisiana.

After my experience with the Chinese woman I became infatuated with the eastern healing arts and took up yoga mostly from downloaded torrents like yogaX from the P90X video series. I tried many different in person classes in Baton Rouge but it wasn’t until I took a class with Andrew Linton that I had found something that really worked for me.

His teaching style was a balance of slow and smooth yet stern and authoritative. He also had a way of consistently encouraging you to “breathe with intention.” I finished my first class with him and immediately walked up to him to tell him… “This is the yoga I’ve been searching for.”

His method of teaching Ashtanga led me to become an instructor myself. We both currently teach at

Who says adults can't have fun?

Did you know that inversions like headstands have been a part of yoga practice for thousands of years? In fact, ancient yogis believed that practicing inversions helped to awaken spiritual energy and balance the body and mind.
Today, we know that inversions offer a range of physical and mental benefits, from improving circulation to reducing stress. Have you tried inversions before?
