Yesterday, we celebrated the Feast of St. Francis — a time to reflect on his call to serve others with love and humility. These same values guided the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady North American Region Sisters when they began their journey to Louisiana in 1911.

This September, during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, we're honored to share the inspiring story of Kendall Stephens, a true warrior in our community.

When stomach pain turned out to be a 12-pound tumor, Kendall's world changed overnight. But with the support of her Spanish Town family, her medical team here at Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute and Woman's Breast & GYN Cancer Pavilion, and her unwavering determination, she fought back.

"I couldn't have had a better place to receive care than here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana." Kendall says.

Kendall's story reminds us that with exceptional cancer care close to home and a strong support community, we can overcome even the toughest challenges. Now in remission, she continues to advocate for ovarian cancer awareness and support others on their journey.
