Preventing Slip and Fall Risk Without Disrupting Operations
Slip and fall risk is one of those problems most facilities do not think about until someone gets hurt.
I work with high traffic commercial facilities across Louisiana where floors, showers, pool decks, and walkways often look fine but become dangerous when wet.
A common assumption I hear is
“We have insurance for that.”
Insurance reacts after an injury.
It does not prevent one.
The risks are real:
-Injuries to staff or guests
-Costly claims
-Increased insurance premiums
-Potential coverage loss
My approach is simple.
Instead of guessing, I test surfaces using professional methods. This often reveals risk areas that visual inspections miss.
Once risk is confirmed, I apply surface appropriate treatments that improve traction without changing the look or function of the space.
Operational impact matters.
All work is scheduled around business hours.
Late nights. Early mornings. Weekends when needed.
Facilities stay open while safety improves.
The results:
-Reduced slip risk in wet conditions
-More confidence for staff and management
-Documented, proactive prevention
-Fewer surprises after an incident
For facility managers, this matters because insurance does not stop injuries.
Prevention reduces risk before a claim ever exists.
My focus is protecting people while helping facilities avoid unnecessary disruption.
