Summer is upon us! This is a great time to reset those daily oral hygiene and etainer wearing routines. Always have that extra case with you. And remember to never place a childs name or "if found" contact address info on retainer cases. Safety first!

Well summer heat is here! Remember retainers do NOT fair well sitting out in the hot sun. Retainer cases are not made to protect from heat. So that hot car, or pool deck are not the best spots for either.

We are deeply sadden, here at Evans Orthodontic Appliances, by the events that unfolded this past weekend in Orlando, Florida. We are asking that everyone lift up the families of these victims in prayer to comfort them as the realities of this selfish act of inhumanity settles in. May the surgeons be skilled and recovery quick for all who were able to survive. May God be at the bedside of everyone who was able to escape unharmed. May those who lost loved ones be comforted with their memories, encouraged by their faith, and empowered by their resilience.

Well, it's hard to believe that CANDY season is upon us again.Of course we know that brackets and hard candy are NOT friends. Retainer wires also can be stressed when they come in contact with hard candy. And, that may mean that your retainer wearer may be more inclined to "lay down" a retainer for a moment...and then walk away. Having a case handy, with a parent name and number is a great way to ensure that retainers don't get left and lost. Never put addresses or children's names with numbers on things to ensure you keep them safe!

Summer is almost here. Camp outs, sleep overs, vacations with family and friends. Retainer wearing time can slip, when routines change. Keeping a journal of wearing time, or a posted check list are great ideas to help children remember. It is also a great on the go communicator for other parents who might be in charge of those sleep overs ~

April showers bring May flowers~Spring time is a GREAT time for some "spring cleaning". Mouth wash is a great daily rinse. Never place retainers in boiling water though. That might work for your toothbrush, but it damages your retainer.

Be sure to clean your retainer thoroughly after a cold or the flu. If you are using a soft brush to clean, replace it the same way you would a toothbrush after illness. Your health matters!
