THE IMPACT OF DONOR SMOKING ON MORTALITY AFTER LUNG TRANSPLANT🫁

Researchers in the US performed a multicenter study of lung transplants between 2012 and 2018 to more accurately assess the impact of donor smoking on primary graft dysfunction (PGD) and mortality.

Results show that, while donor smoking was associated with a modest increase in PGD risk, it is not linked with increased recipient mortality. The team concludes that the use of lungs from smokers is likely safe and may increase donor lung availability.

University Hospital Ahuja Medical Center sucks!! Don’t go here if you are a critical patient. Emergency room nurse that admitted me last night/am had no bed side manners what so ever and acted like she had better s**t to do then be at work. If don’t like your job don’t come to work period. Been in the emergency room approaching 20 hours with patients lined up in the hallways like Covid days and never got a bed after admission. Listening to employees complain about working here and the ER doctor yelling at nurses for ignoring me for so long. Mind you with my Lung Transplant, I’m a high risk patient.

I had enough of the s**t and I requested a damn transfer and thank goodness for my team at the Cleveland Clinic are wayyy better and got me a transport to get out of this hell hole of a hospital. Even tho University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center put the transport as a non emergency transport, it pi**es me off it will be close to 24 hours before I’m out of here and at my right place of treatment. I don’t know how this hospital has enough money to expand for what?!

Mind you this is the hospital that was in the news for someone unplugging the cooler that stored 4,000 embryos and eggs. Turned out this place, of course, settled with the families that were affected. Big lawsuit that should have taken out this damn place.

Share this please! No one should ever be looked down upon or talked to like s**t because they are in need of medical help.

P.S. Never wanted to come here but the non -professional EMS (https://www.facebook.com/solonfirerescue) at Solon Fire Department took me here anyway against my wishes along with talking to me like s**t as well after dumping me off in the waiting room. As I right this I’m thinking maybe I should talk to a lawyer. 🤔
