The large majority of concussion patients—over 80%—say they experience emotional symptoms after they receive their concussion. Many of these symptoms go away after their initial treatment, but some are persistent and remain with them for a longer period of time. The two main causes of these emotional changes are actual physiological changes in the brain caused by the injury, and emotional reactions to the trauma that was experienced and to the new life changes the patients are expected to adapt to post-concussion.
Personality changes after a concussion can be scary and no one should have to deal with them alone. Contact the Comprehensive Accident and Injury Center today to learn more about our concussion screening and what we can do to help you on your road to recovery after facing a concussion.
