On this night, 24 years ago, 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 fire fighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for their morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00am on Sept 11th 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. Its that time of year again folks. Fall harvest begins about the same time as the "Pumpkin Spice" drinks and foods start showing up. Remember to share the road and use caution when approaching large equipment. They have large blind spots making it hard to see. A few minutes delay is a lot better than a life altering accident.

Today, The Beardstown Fire Department and The Beardstown Police Department had the honor of escorting into town, the 6th annual "RED" Ride of Central Illinois.

The ride was comprised of 300+ motorcycles and jeeps, and other vehicles. It stared in Jacksonville with stops at the Beardstown Elks Lodge, Havana, Athens, and ending in Springfield.

"RED" stands for Remember Everyone Deployed. And the purpose of the ride is to raise funds to provide care packages to overseas deployed troops at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
