Prayers for Jace Micheal Cooper Jace has been diagnosed in utero with hydrocephalus and encephalocele. We will induce on June 28. He Our first set of good news!

Back in February of 2012 we found out not only were we blessed to be having a baby boy but that we needed to be referred to a specialist for further testing of his brain. The longest 4 days ever me and my husband had to get to that appointment. We say fetal specialist that flew into town from Baton Rouge, La. We were told that this is not an ideal situation but at this time he was unsure of what c

ould be going on and we would need a follow-up in the next 2 weeks. At that time we went into the chromosome test and a week later found out he had no chromosome issues at this time. Once seeing the drs again he began to explain to us that he had no good new and that started to give us statics that less than 30% chance our little boy would make it to birth and if he did he may only make it a few hours. At this time we were devastated and turned to faith, family and friends for support. I am happy to report after numerous doctors we have been referred to Texas Children Hospital in April and have received better news from the doctors here. The team of doctors has been following us and baby Jace along this journey and have held our hands. We have turned to GOD and give him control of the situation and live each day to the fullest. Come the beginning of June I will be relocating to Houston to wait out the delivery of Jace and see the doctors regularly. They have great hope that with surgeries Jace will need that he has a chance for survival. At this time we dont know much of how he will be but we do know the impact he has already had on our life and he is truly a fighter! We created this page because of the over flow of support we have received from everyone we have come in contract with since finding out. This will be a great way for us to keep everyone updated on our journey with Jace.

We have reached week 4 of the new treatment plan for ESES/CSWS which is Prednisolone at a very high dosage. We have failed the first 2 plans and this one seems to have some hope even though we have more side effects.
This medication makes him very tired and he doesn't have the energy to keep up all day, especially in the heat.
He bruises easy, we monitor his sugar and blood pressure also.
He is remembering things today he hasn't in a long time. His vocabulary is much more clear and the aphasia has completely stopped.
Prayers that we continue to show improvement with little side effects on these next 5 months.
