Today, our teams gathered for a special Thanksgiving meal! Our leaders rolled up their sleeves to help serve, but the real MVPs of the day were our incredible Nutritional Services team, who cooked more than 40 turkeys to make this celebration possible. Their hard work fills more than plates, it fills our hospital with warmth, gratitude, and community. And now the real question of the day… Are you Team Pumpkin Pie or Team Pecan Pie? 🥧😉 Tell us in the comments! From our RGH family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!

Your annual physical could catch a serious condition before you ever feel a symptom. Conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and even some cancers often have no early warning signs. But routine screenings during a physical can detect them early, when they’re most treatable.

Your check-up also gives your doctor a chance to look at the whole picture: your medications, mental health, sleep, stress and lifestyle goals. A quick visit today can help prevent a major issue tomorrow. He is always personable, always smiling, and always willing to help. Last week, Raleigh General Hospital proudly donated roughly 400 turkeys to the Beckley Dream Center and the Salvation Army to help support local families in need during the holiday season.
This incredible act of giving was made possible because our employees once again rose to the occasion, showing compassion, generosity, and a true commitment to making our communities healthier. To every team member who contributed, shared, supported, or helped organize: thank you. Your kindness reaches far beyond our hospital walls, and together, we’re making a meaningful impact.

This week, Raleigh General Hospital proudly celebrates Nurse Practitioner Week, a time to recognize the essential contributions of the Nurse Practitioners (NPs) who strengthen our hospital, our clinics, and the health of our community every single day. In a time when healthcare demands are rapidly evolving, Nurse Practitioners continue to step forward, bridging gaps, supporting their teams, and elevating the level of care we provide. Their commitment reflects the heart of RGH’s mission: making communities healthier. To all our NPs: thank you for your expertise, your resilience, your empathy, and your unwavering dedication to your patients. Your impact reaches far beyond the bedside, and RGH is stronger because of you.

We’re excited to share that our main lobby elevators are undergoing much-needed renovations to better serve our patients, visitors, and staff. During this phase, one elevator will be temporarily out of service, and we’ll be operating with only one elevator in the main lobby. Signage is posted throughout the area to help you easily navigate to alternate elevators and get where you need to go. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to enhance your experience at Raleigh General Hospital. Once this elevator upgrade is complete, we’ll begin renovations on the next one, bringing us one step closer to a more efficient and welcoming space. Thank you for bearing with us during this improvement project. We can’t wait to reveal the finished result!

We are excited to share another HBO patient spotlight. When Robert first came to our Advanced Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center, he was struggling with painful soft tissue radionecrosis (STRN) of the jaw and neck. Referred by his oral surgeon, he arrived hopeful but unsure of what the path ahead would hold. He was approved for 40 Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) treatments, and from his very first visit, Robert showed up with unwavering kindness, determination, and a smile that lifted everyone’s spirits. By his final dive, he shared that his mouth “feels so much better” and that he can finally return to daily life with comfort and confidence. Throughout his visits, Terri and Jordan would joke each morning that he was “signing in for his brand-new red Mercedes.” So on his last day, the team kept the tradition alive—surprising him with his very own toy red Mercedes. His laughter made the perfect ending to his 40-treatment journey. Robert’s attitude, humor, and resilience left a mark on all of us. We’re honored to have been part of his healing process and wish him continued health and happiness. Thank you, Robert, for letting us be part of your story.
