When Susan Gorschboth, DNP, CRNP, began cancer treatment, her teammates at Danny and Gail Jones Primary Care rallied around her.

Thanks to their encouragement—and her strength—Susan is now in remission after care at UM UCH’s Kaufman Cancer Center.

Even on a stormy evening last week, our dedicated team members were all smiles as they boarded the shuttle after a long day of service. With heavy rain and flooding alerts across Harford County that night, team members wished each other safe travels—demonstrating the care and camaraderie that define our culture.

In a powerful act of family devotion, UM UCH's Dr. Lisa Carchedi donated a kidney to her older sister, Gina Warsaw, at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.

The transplant, performed by Dr. Chandra Bhati, marks the culmination of a deeply personal journey for Dr. Carchedi and a second chance at life for Gina.

With summer heating up, Tresa Meredith is back again to lift spirits at UCMC Bel Air, and this time her iconic "Cheer Cart" is sporting an eye-catching new look, thanks to the creative touch of Project Coordinator Wanda Stonebraker! Alongside the usual snacks and pick-me-ups, the cart now pops with sparkles and floral arrangements. Wanda’s artistic flair essentially guarantees that when Tresa rolls by, you won’t miss the cart—or the joy it brings. It’s just one of the many thoughtful ways our Manager of Team Member Experience is celebrating our incredible health care heroes. Where will she spread cheer next?

Back by popular demand, team members across UM UCH recently came together to showcase their creativity and team spirit by designing vibrant, themed baskets right in our cafeterias. This summer event offered a wonderful chance to strengthen bonds and foster collaboration across departments.

Once the colorful creations were displayed, the excitement continued as participants drew numbers to receive a surprise basket crafted by another team. The atmosphere was filled with joy and anticipation as everyone unwrapped their unexpected gifts!

Departments from Comprehensive Care to Endocrinology to Rehab joined forces to create a dazzling array of color-themed pairings—imagine orange Cheetos with basketballs, green mint gum with Sprite, pink plush toys with kiwi-strawberry Vitamin Water, and sunny yellow sunflowers with golden Oreos.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part in this joyful celebration of teamwork and imagination. It truly was a “Rainbow Connection” to remember!

On the evening of July 29, The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company honored the grand opening of UM Upper Chesapeake Health’s newest primary care facility, “Danny and Gail Jones Primary Care in Bel Air”, with a powerful show of support.

Firetrucks rolled in and proudly displayed a massive American flag on their ladders, creating a spectacular tribute to our country, our community and the new health care facility.
