Congratulations to Daniel on 2 years of recovery!

This milestone carries special meaning as he honors the legacy of his Auntie, Joan, our former Executive Director, whose impact continues to be felt every day.

We’re proud to have Daniel on our team and excited to see him continue to grow, recently stepping into a full-time role in security.

We enjoyed connecting with families and children during last week’s Easter Eggstravaganza and sharing toy giveaways with the community.

We were grateful to everyone who stopped by our booth and to those who helped welcome families, engage with children, and make the event a meaningful experience for the community. 💛

We were honored to take part in the 40th Annual Turtle Mountain Family Week Awards Banquet. Family Week is always a special time for our community as families, organizations, and community members come together to celebrate the importance of family, culture, and supporting one another.

During the banquet, many individuals, families, organizations, and businesses were recognized for the positive impact they make in our community. We want to acknowledge all those who were nominated across the many award categories. Being nominated reflects the dedication and care so many people bring to our community every day.

We are especially proud of our Turtle Mountain Recovery Center (TMRC) team members who were recognized during the evening. Julie Cain was honored as Elder of the Year, and Mike Davis received the Hero of the Year award. TMRC was also humbled to be nominated for Business of the Year and recognized as 2nd place Organization of the Year.

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was seeing our TMRC clients who completed the program and were reunited with their children recognized. Watching those families stand together was a powerful reminder of the strength, courage, and commitment it takes to rebuild families and continue the path of recovery.

We would also like to acknowledge two of our TMRC board members who were recognized during the evening. Your leadership and support help guide the work we do every day.

Family Week is truly a community effort. Thank you to everyone who helped organize and support the many activities throughout the week — from the cardboard sled race, soup contest, talent show, craft show, community breakfast, and all the other events that brought people together. We also want to thank the many volunteers, community members, and local businesses who helped make the week such a success.

Congratulations again to all nominees and honorees, and thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Turtle Mountain Family Week another meaningful celebration of family and community.

Clients and some team members at TMRC participated in a hands-on cultural activity creating their own dreamcatchers. Using natural materials such as red willow branches and traditional plant fibers, everyone worked together to bend, weave, and tie their frames while learning about the meaning behind dreamcatchers.

Clients also learned about the traditional uses of certain plants, including red willow bark, which has long been used in ceremonial to***co blends and cultural practices.
It was great to see everyone engaged and proud of the dreamcatchers they created.

✨ Family Week Health Fair – Awards Day ✨

Family reunification is one of the most meaningful milestones in the recovery journey. During the upcoming Family Week Health Fair in Belcourt, TMRC will be honoring individuals whose hard work and dedication have led to reunification with their children and stronger family connections.

This Awards Day is an opportunity to celebrate resilience, responsibility, and the hope that comes with rebuilding family bonds.

If you are a former TMRC client who has successfully reunified with your children and believe you may be eligible for this recognition, please reach out via private message to Mike Davis or Chanie Larocque. To protect confidentiality, we ask that you do not comment publicly on this post.

We look forward to celebrating these journeys together during Family Week and honoring the strength of families within our community. 💙

Turtle Mountain Recovery Center was honored to participate in the Resilient Pathways Holistic Health Expo focused on community, culture, and wellness of the mind, body, and spirit.

The display, centered around a Tree of Life, invited expo participants to share what wellness and recovery mean to them. The display also featured the Seven Teachings, sacred animals, and traditional medicines that represent balance, respect, and connection.

Day one included meaningful presentations, networking, and group discussions on how traditional healing practices and evidence-based care can work together to support whole-person wellness. Day two featured additional presentations and community vendors, including our TMRC booth.

At the close of day two, there were readings and presentations focused on the sacred animals and their teachings. It was a powerful moment of reflection and cultural sharing that brought the gathering to a heartfelt close.

We are grateful for the creativity, time, and spirit that went into this display and presentation, and for the opportunity to be part of conversations that continue to uplift culturally grounded, holistic approaches to wellness.

TMRC

The Turtle Mountain Recovery Center project was originally designed to be a rehabilitation center to address the addiction crisis facing the community of Turtle Mountains. Many conversations, recovery rallies, and partnerships with entities such as: Fox Advancement, USDA Rural Development and Purdue University through Rural Economic Development Initiative Grant (REDI) the project evolved into something more. It became clear that what the community was responding to was a comprehensive recovery center for addiction that would include on-site and off-site wrap-around services for patients and their families.
