Notice for those waiting in the lobby with children...and its very unfortunate that we have to even be posting this at all. Safety is the utmost concern and we are not trying to be difficult but to potentially divert an injury! These will be posted in the lobby as well.

LOBBY EXPECTATIONS: we pride ourselves on seeing numerous children and we appreciate that parents trust us for their child's dental care, but due to previous issues, we have had to implement guidelines for the safety of all who may be occupying the lobby space at any given time.
For the safety of everyone that is waiting in the lobby we ask that your child/children (that is a patient or not) remain seated for the most part. We will not allow jumping off of furniture or running around in the lobby, there are others usually waiting and this not only poses a safety hazard to children but adults as well and is very disruptive.
If the child continues such behaviors, an office staff member will kindly issue a verbal warning and if the disruption continues then an office staff member will ask you to remove the child from the lobby to your vehicle outside to wait or if the weather is nice take them outside and allow them to move around supervised. We do realize that everyone’s time is valuable and waiting can be hard/difficult especially for kiddos, but while we do try to stay on schedule as much as we possibly can, sometimes events happen and our schedule does get delayed and this is usually due to helping other patients who are in pain and have an emergency situation, which can delay treatment or care to others. KIndly think that this could be you someday and you would want that done for you. If you feel the wait becomes excessive you can ask to be rescheduled but we do try to accommodate and work as fast and efficiently as possible but still providing quality dental care.
We do not routinely supply activities for children while waiting, so feel free to bring items that can entertain them if they cannot be content with watching the TV that is in the lobby. We are not a daycare facility so there are limited items in the lobby and we do not provide much for entertainment. If you choose to bring crayons or drawing items that is fine but please supervise your child as we really don’t need any additional “wall art” that has been previously done for us 🤣. We actually have our own personal artist that draws for us.(Fun fact: all the posted picture have been drawn/framed and hanging on the walls are from Dr. Fischer's daughter)
Thank you for understanding that we implement these guidelines for safety of all occupying the lobby space. We do understand that kids can get nervous or anxious and this post does not mean that he/she can't move around but we ask this to be done in a controlled fashion...the lobby space gets real small very quickly when it is shared with others that are waiting. Compliance is requested and appreciated.

Digital scanning technology in dentistry refers to the use of advanced intraoral scanners and optical devices to generate highly detailed three-dimensional images of the teeth, gums, and entire oral cavity. These handheld devices utilize structured light, laser, or powder-free optical methods to capture accurate and comprehensive digital impressions.

These digital impressions are then used for a variety of dental procedures. One of the most common applications is in restorative dentistry. Digital scans are used to design and produce crowns, bridges, partials, dentures and dental implants with high precision. Faster and more comfortable than traditional molds, digital impressions improve patient experience and reduce appointment times. Winner will be drawn on Valentine's Day!

We hope you had a Merry Christmas and wish you a Happy New Year!
Here are some fun facts about Fischer Family Dentistry, LLC that you may not know:
1) Dr. Fischer has 3 siblings- his 2 brothers are also dentists.
2) Dr. Fischer has been a dentist for over 30 years! Yes, this means he has years of experience but this does not make him old!
3) Dr. Fischer is a part-time clinical instructor for the upcoming spring semester at UNMC college of Dentistry, the same school he graduated from and where his son Alex Fischer is a first year dental student!
4) Dentistry was not his original career path, he actually wanted to be a veterinarian (go KSU wildcats 🥰), his love for horses probably inspired that thought 🤣
5) The office artwork that decorates the walls is from his talented daughter, Laurel who is a KSU fine arts major.
6) Dr. Fischer provides a vast amount of dental services, making it convenient to not have to travel for dental care. A few of the expanded functions that he provides include: Oral conscious Sedation (OCS) Dentistry (very great option for 3rd molar-wisdom teeth extractions and no extra needles involved!). If you choose OCS, you will also meet with his lovely wife Andrea Fischer prior for a thorough consultation to make sure all your questions have been answered. Not to mention he also offers implants, orthodontic services-traditional braces and clear aligner option. This is in addition to the routine dental services provided such as preventive and restorative services (fillings, root canals, crowns and bridges). Call the office today at 785-527-5602. Most insurance accepted as well as a provider for some Kansas and Nebraska Medicaid programs.

DID YOU KNOW WE HAVE BEEN SERVICING THE NERVOUS FOR OVER 20 YEARS???!!!
Are you needing dental treatment but are scared of the dentist? What if there was an option that would ease your fear and anxiety??? Here at Fischer Family Dentistry, LLC we offer Oral Conscious Sedation also referred to as conscious sedation. Oral sedation may be recommended for individuals undergoing lengthy procedures (wisdom teeth extractions, implants, full mouth rehab/extractions, restorative) who may experience dental anxiety, gag reflexes, trouble controlling physical movements, or other special needs. It is administered in a pill form by your dental professional prior to and during your procedure. These medications act to temporarily slow down brain activity, making you feel more relaxed. This form of sedation is moderate, and you are still awake, although it can give you temporary forgetfulness. Prior to undergoing oral conscious, you will meet with Dr. Fischer's wife, Andrea Fischer, who has been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years for a consult to discuss what to expect before, during, and after the procedure as well as to sign all necessary forms. A thorough health history is reviewed as we pride ourselves on the top notch care and safety we provide for this process.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Oral Sedation
What will you feel when orally sedated?
Oral sedation will make you feel drowsy, but undisturbed. You will be awake and still able to communicate, but if you are to doze off you will be able to easily awaken. Most often, patients who have had oral sedation do not remember much of the procedure.

Advantages of oral sedation
Luckily, there are many advantages of oral sedation for both the patient and dental professional. In some cases, the fear of the dentist may be keeping individuals from properly taking care of their teeth. With the help of oral sedation, people can feel relaxed and at ease during their procedure. Oral sedation is safe and easy to administer for both adults and children, with no extra needles being involved! Another advantage is the amnesia effect, in which the patient will have little to no memory of the procedure even though they are consciously awake and able to respond to commands.

Disadvantages of oral sedation
With advantages always comes some disadvantages, too. Prior to administering oral sedation, your dentist will conduct a thorough medical history to lower the risk of complications occurring. Although there are minimal risks of side effects occuring, possible complications following oral sedation can include a potential allergic reaction, dry mouth, nausea, headaches, and prolonged drowsiness.

Further, oral sedation may take some time before it kicks in as it goes through your body, as with most medications. Your dental team will provide you with detailed instructions including how long before the procedure to take the medication. In addition, unlike other forms of sedation like IV sedation, it is challenging to adjust the dosage, and everyone’s body may respond differently. Another disadvantage of oral sedation is the inability to drive to and from your appointment. Due to the slight impairment of brain activity from oral sedation, you will be required to bring someone with you to your appointment who can drive you there and back.

Don't let fear keep you from seeing the Dentist! Give us a call today as we are a full service provider!!! 785-527-5602
