Healing from trauma looks different for everyone, and there are several approaches that can help your brain and body recover. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you identify unhelpful thought patterns and develop coping skills, while EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) supports processing traumatic memories so they feel less overwhelming.

At the BTRC, we offer these trauma-informed therapies in a safe compassionate space, helping you heal at your own pace and reclaim a sense of safety and control in your life.

Have you ever noticed that in your relationship, one of you reaches while the other pulls away? Or that small conflicts quickly feel like big threats?

That’s your attachment system at work; the patterns we learned from early bonds with caregivers showing up in love today.

In couples therapy, we uncover these patterns (anxious, avoidant, or secure) and learn how they influence trust, emotional needs, and communication.

Today, on January 27t,h we pause to remember the six million Jewish lives lost in the Holocaust, along with the millions of others targeted by hatred, violence, and dehumanization.

We honor the victims, the survivors, and their stories, bearing witness so history is not forgotten and trauma is not erased. Remembrance is an act of responsibility. It asks us to confront injustice, protect human dignity, and stand against hate in all its forms.

May we remember.
May we learn.
May we choose compassion and courage,
Always.

Today, we honor Martin Luther King Jr. and his dream of equality, justice, and dignity for all.

“I have a dream…” wasn’t just words, but a vision for a world where every person is seen, heard, and valued. A world where fairness isn’t optional, and where love and courage can move mountains.

Stage 2 of Betrayal Trauma: Anger

Anger after betrayal is a sign that your body and mind are starting to reclaim your voice.

If you’re noticing resentment, irritability, or a simmering fire inside, you might be in Stage 2 of betrayal trauma. It’s messy, uncomfortable, and sometimes overwhelming, but it’s also powerful.

This is your nervous system saying, “I see what happened. I won’t stay silent anymore.”

We'll be discussing Stage 3 next week.
