You finally pour the coffee. It’s hot. Quiet. Peaceful. You sit down…

“Mom.”
“Mama.”
“I can’t find my shoes.”
“She’s touching me.”
“Open this.”

And just like that? Cold coffee. Every. Time.

In her heartfelt (and very relatable) new article, Samaya Darghouth El Moghrabi, PCI Certified Parent Coach®, shares a funny, tender reminder that those interrupted mornings aren’t a failure — they’re parenting in real life.

Not the picture-perfect version. The loud, messy, needed, beautiful version.

Because cold coffee usually means:
• You’re trusted
• You’re needed
• You’re showing up

And one day, when the house is quiet and your coffee actually stays hot… you might miss the chaos just a little.

So if your mug is lukewarm today, take heart. You’re not behind. You’re not doing it wrong. You’re just raising children.

Celebrating a PCI graduate!

We’re excited to share that Dr. Juliet Marciano—a retired pediatrician and PCI Certified Parent Coach®—was recently featured on a podcast discussing how families can navigate one of life’s most difficult transitions: divorce.

In the conversation, Dr. Marciano explores:
• The ripple effects divorce can have across the entire family
• How parents can support children, including those with special needs
• Ways to maintain connection, stability, and emotional safety during major change

Her work reflects the heart of PCI’s mission—helping parents understand family dynamics and create healthier, more supportive environments for children.

Watch the conversation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQYFc2Za4zw

We’re proud to see PCI Certified Parent Coaches® sharing their expertise and making a difference for families everywhere.

Sometimes kids don’t need more rules or reminders from us. They just need the environment to work better.

“Crazily enough, it was all about the furniture. One Mom’s 3 yr. old was glued to Bluey when she wanted to get work done around the house. How to keep her little one occupied and safe without a screen? Pondering this one night, she realized she could move her couch and use some pillows to wall off a play area for her toddler. This worked like magic! The child proclaimed, ‘I have my cozy house now.’ Parents of a 5- and 7-year-old shifted furniture in their dining room to clear a creative space area. They put down a tarp and let the kids go at it for messy fun with paints and playdough. One Dad liked to hang out with his teen son in the evening, but realized there wasn’t any way for eye contact when they talked with each other. It seems no chairs in the room were facing each other.
Remedying that gave them a chance to actually have more than 10-second conversations. Often an easy fix goes a long way.

Back-to-school. Back-to-work. Back-to routines. And sometimes… back to resistance, tears, and big feelings.

Transitions aren’t just logistical — they’re emotional for the whole family.

In her newest article, Julia Wilcox, PCI Certified Parent Coach®, shares gentle, practical ways to help children (and parents!) ease back into everyday rhythms with more confidence and connection.

Here are a few favorites:
• Set loving, consistent boundaries — and validate feelings
• Use visuals + play (calendars, drawings, role play) to prepare kids
• Create small daily rituals for comfort and predictability
• Celebrate the new season instead of mourning the old one
• Don’t forget your own self-care — parents are transitioning, too

Because children don’t need perfect transitions — they need calm, steady parents who believe, “We’ll figure this out together.”

We’re living on a threshold. Between the world we grew up in… and the one our children are inheriting.
AI. Algorithms. Devices that shape culture faster than families can process it.

It can feel overwhelming — even powerless.

But here’s what hasn’t changed: Parents are still the most influential force in a child’s life.

Not tech companies.
Not social media.
Not AI companions.

At PCI, we believe technology should support healthy human development — not replace connection, wisdom, and relationship.

Sometimes kids don’t need another lecture from us. They need another voice.

“Mom was beside herself. Her 13 yr. old son enjoyed basketball, but enjoyed playing video games more. At a recent check-up, the doctor expressed concerns over his increasing weight and rising blood pressure. Mom knew too much screen time was a factor. But as a single parent, how can she get through to him? I asked her, ‘Can your pediatrician help you? If she told your son that too much time with video games was contributing to his poor health, would he listen to her?’ Mom thought about that and then realized, ‘Yes, he probably would.’ So, she talked privately to the doctor, and the doctor was all in. She talked with the boy and Mom told me the positive change was immediate. He not only started playing basketball in the driveway every night, he took the dog for walks every chance he got, too. Reaching out to helpful experts can be powerful. Parents don’t have to manage screens alone.”

Families don’t just grow when a new baby arrives — they evolve. And so do we as parents.

We’re excited to share a new article on the resource pages at Parent Coaching Institute (PCI) from PCI Certified Parent Coach® Julia Wilcox:
“Adding A Sibling to the Family Means Evolving as a Parent”

In it, Julia offers gentle, practical guidance for navigating sibling transitions with more connection and less competition — including:
- Grounding your family in what’s already working
- Creating simple one-on-one time with each child
- Shifting from “equal” to “fair” (meeting individual needs)
- Supporting yourself through the transition, too

One of our favorite reminders: Five minutes of undivided attention can change everything.

If you’re preparing to welcome another child — or adjusting to life with siblings — this is a must-read.

Plus, don’t forget: our PCI Resource Pages include more parent articles, tools, and book reviews to support you every step of the way.
