"How can we help? What can we do for you, today?" Whatcom Street Medicine volunteers use a person-centered approach to provide trauma informed care to our unhoused neighbors. We collaborate with local outreach service professionals like HOT members from Opportunity Council to help us reach out to those in need.

Our doctor and nurse volunteers provide first aid and basic wound care from head to toe. Our motto is "Go to the people" and we are thankful we can partner with Opportunity Counsel Homeless Outreach Team to do that weekly.

Thank you Amy and all the participants and volunteers at the Recovery Cafe. The Whatcom Street Medicine team appreciates the opportunity participate and provide free healthcare (first aid, wound care and consultations) to our unhoused neighbors.

Every Tuesday around 12:30 pm, Recovery Café Bellingham is visited by the Homeless Outreach Team and Whatcom County Street Medicine. If you know someone who needs to engage with a street medic or chat with HOT, send them to us on Tuesdays! So grateful for this partnership! 💜

What Whatcom Street Medicine did last year...
In 2024, Whatcom Street Medicine volunteer doctors and nurses provided free medical care or consultation 379 times to 236 unhoused neighbors. Since we go to where the people are, our team met them in camps and parks, sidewalks and alleys, in homeless facilities and shelters. We provided empathy based basic first aid, wound care and consultation to connect vulnerable people with healthcare services. We have been able to do this at no cost thanks to the generosity of this community. Thank you for your support.

Whatcom Street Medicine's motto is "go to the people", this day, during the recent cold spell we went with HOT members to the Lighthouse Mission providing care to many folks staying inside to avoid the freezing temperatures. We appreciate the connection and support.
