North Country First Responders

North Country First Responders The NCFR are a group of volunteers who are trained as Emergency Medical Responders. These are your friends and neighbors who save lives on a daily basis.

The North Country First Responders are a group of volunteers who are trained as Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) to care for those involved in crashes and medical emergencies Our volunteers respond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, often in the middle of the night. We are paged out, per established protocols, by the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office 911 Cent

er whenever a situation arises where medical attention is needed. In addition, our volunteers provide emergency medical response at events such as the Beltrami County Fair, Dragon Boat races and other such community affairs. We are also members of the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Emergency Operations Team. First Responders are often first on the scene and advise the ambulance of what further care is needed. This is especially critical for those who have sustained a life-threatening injury or medical emergency that needs life-saving care. This care is crucial for those who live in rural areas. North Country First Responders cover an area encompassing 27 townships in Beltrami County and 4 Hubbard County townships. The service area for the North Country First Responders include approximately 200 square miles and range from the Clearwater County line to east on the south reservation boundary to the Itasca and Cass County line, and 7 miles north of Blackduck to 6 miles south into Hubbard County.

Each year, during the week of May 6th-12th, we celebrate national nurses week! At NCFR, we are so grateful for the dedication and team work of the nurses who help our communities stay safe and healthy.

Nurses week was established to recognize the vital role nurses play in healthcare, and ends May 12th, which is the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who was widely recognized as the founder of modern-day nursing.

Thank you to our nurses here at NCFR, and to all the other nurses out there, for the sacrifices you make, the lives you touch, and the difference you make!

Safety starts with being seen, and thanks to the generosity of incredible community partners and donors, our team just got a MAJOR upgrade: high visibility jackets for the whole crew!

Enbridge : Fueling our Futures Grant
United Way of Bemidji Area : Community Response Funds
Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union
Knife River Corporation
Security Bank USA : Casual Day Funds
Minnesota Energy Resources : Safety Grant

Because of your support, our responders are now better equipped to stay safe and be seen while serving our community, especially in high-risk and low-visibility situations. This investment directly impacts our safety, confidence, and effectiveness on every call.

From all of us at North Country First Responders—thank you for standing with us and helping keep our crews safe.

We would like to thank Lee, from Beltrami Electric Cooperative, for taking the time to teach our first responders about electrical and power line safety at our last meeting!

His knowledge and real-world experience provided our team with valuable information that will help keep our responders and community safe. Understanding the hazards associated with electrical incidents is important, and this training strengthened our ability to recognize risks and respond appropriately.

We appreciate your dedication to our community. Thank you again for investing time into our team!

Just a friendly reminder, tomorrow is the day! We can’t wait to see you there!

This last Saturday evening, we had our annual Christmas Party to thank our members for all their hard work this last year. We were able reflect on the last year; the connections we've built and the impact we made while serving the community. It's nice to just sit, relax, and enjoy each others company once in a while.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to The Loft Event Center and Blue Oyster Bemidji for sponsoring our Christmas Party. The space was beautiful and the pasta bar was fantastic!

We would also like to thank the following businesses for their door prize donations:
