I wish I could have shown this picture to my 30 year old self. At 30 I would have said I hate this breakfast. I was rigid in what I liked, what I thought was good. I didn’t know how many changes I would go through. How different I would be at 61. How my wife and I would battle cancer multiple times. Lose a farm. Change jobs. Move to a new state. Have a heart attack. I would change my perspective on so many things. I wish I could tell my 30 year old self that I would love myself at 61, even though I am much different than I thought I would be. Tell my 30 year old self that my God would be faithful and love me through the changes. That my God would initiate changes for my good.
Yeah, I would have loved to show this pic to my 30 year old self.

We are honored to walk through this crisis with you

So much has changed and continues to change with the race to slow the spread of COVID-19. There's been a steep learning curve for all of us as our communities shift into modes of protection. These shifts are not easy and are creating increased levels of anxiety, irritation/anger, isolation, paranoia, boredom and depression.

The Joshua Center wants you to know that we are here with you. Our team of skilled and qualified counselors are ready to meet with you via technology to help keep you safe at home. To aid in that endeavor, some insurance companies are currently waiving current deductibles and co-pays. If insurance is a problem, we have counselors who will take into consideration your current financial needs and pressures. You don't have to cope alone. Our phones and emails are still being answered. If we can help, please give us a call at 479-268-4557 or email us at [email protected].

Let's handle this together.

The Joshua Center

The Joshua Center

The Joshua Center is aware of COVID-19 and is taking reasonable precautions to protect our staff and clientele.

New TJC COVID-19 Protocol:

The governor of Arkansas has temporarily suspended previous restrictions on technology assisted counseling to protect clients during the health crisis. If you have an appointment scheduled, please reach out to your counselor prior to your appointment. This will allow you to discuss whether onsite or tech assisted counseling (via doxy or zoom) is appropriate. Your counselor will have a new informed consent for technology assisted counseling.

If your appointment will be held at a Joshua Center facility, we will be using a new safety protocol:

- If you are sick or are concerned you might be sick, please cancel your appointment. Clients will not be charged for cancelled appointments (even at the last moment) for sickness of self or due to contact with someone who is sick.
- Waiting rooms will not be available during the crisis. Please wait in your vehicle and text/email your counselor when you arrive. Your counselor will respond and open the door to the facility when ready to start your session. Upon entry to the facility, we are requiring immediate hand washing.
- We will take due diligence to protect the health of “at risk” populations (staff and client). Individuals who have been identified as more “at risk” for more severe symptoms (or who live with someone identified as more “at risk”) of COVID-19 will only utilize technology assisted services.

The welfare of our clients, staff and community is our priority as always!

Couples in distress have an attachment dilemma. The person I long to be close to is also the person who can hurt me the most. Fear and longing at war inside of us can be paralyzing.

My friend and colleague, Stephanie Fry! So proud of you!

It is my honor to announce that Stephanie Fry is ARCEFTs newest certified EFT therapist. Not only did Gail Palmer give her a glowing review, but also as her EFT supervisor, I can’t sing high enough praises of her work and work ethic!!! She truly embodies EFT in life and in her sessions. If you have a minute to congratulate her, please do. She has worked hard and has grown in this model tremendously!

Congrats Stephanie. We are proud of you and lucky to have you in this community!!!!

Proud of you Chad!

Is there a doctor in the house?? Why yes; yes there is.

Congratulations to our own Chad Imhoff, PhD, who successfully defended his dissertation this morning!

Relationship Solutions

"I can't believe this is our story. I can't believe it really happened to us."

These are grieving words I said last night to my wife. And not from a recent loss. This is a loss we've known for several years now.

But that's grief for you. Some days it screams and some days it whispers.

But it never stops.

Which is really depressing, right?

Sometimes it is.

And it should be. It’s a loss, a death, an ending…

But here’s the hope in it all (and there is hope). The weight of grief may not change but our strength to bear it does.

Grief feels like someone has handed me a 100 lb weight to carry for the rest of my life. It’s heavy, awkward and exhausting. But slowly – verrrrry slowly – my strength increases and I can carry it better than I could before. While the weight never changes, my strength does. And I can go forward again.

If you’re newly acquainted with grief then be encouraged that better days are coming. You won’t “get over it” but you’ll walk through it in time. Muscles aren’t built in a day or a week or a month. But strength does come.

If you’ve been grieving for a while now and you feel stuck then you may need some help with the process. There’s no shame in that. Find a trusted (wise) friend, a spiritual leader or a counselor to help you figure out how to carry this weight you’ve been given.

And if someone hasn’t told you yet, I’m so grieved for your loss. You are loved.

Celebrate Recovery

When we finally face the hurts, hang-ups or habits from our past we begin to see the greater purpose that God can do with them.
The process not only enhances our continued dependence on God, it expands our capacity to face future circumstances and ultimately increases our capacity to carry the Good News to others as principle 8 reminds us.
Yield ourselves to be used both by our words and our example.
