The Walsh Team: Walsh, Bernard, and Sahlberg for Bergenfield 2011

The Walsh Team: Walsh, Bernard, and Sahlberg for Bergenfield 2011 Working to Represent the Interests of ALL of Bergenfield in Elementary Education/Nursery School in 1977. He told me that all politicians should be fired.

Patricia Walsh for Mayor
• Former Councilwoman, Liaison to the Department of Public Works, Board of Health, Barrier-Free, and Shade Tree Committees
• President Project Graduation, Bergenfield HS 2000
• Former Council Member, Interim Treasurer, Vice President and President, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church
• Former Girl Scout Daisy Troop Leader
• Married with Two Daughters
• Chairwoman, Bergenfield Republican County Committee

I graduated Fairleigh Dickinson University with a B.A. In 1989 I received my Paralegal Certificate of Completion from Montclair State University in the Legal Studies/Paralegal Program. I worked as a Paralegal for 11 years, and then returned to teaching in 2000 as the Lead Teacher at the Bergenfield Head Start Program. I also taught in the NJ Juvenile Justice Commission for 9 years. An experienced educator, I earned my Masters Degree in Special Education from Caldwell College in May 2011, and joined the Passaic County Technical Institute Child Study Team as a Learning Disability Teacher Consultant the same year. A former Sunday School teacher, I held various offices as a member of my Church Council. I also served for 8 years as a class mother and held the post of President for Project Graduation at Bergenfield HS in 2000. I have lived in Bergenfield for 17 years, and, as your Mayor, I will bring respectful and responsive government back to “The Friendly Town.”

Marcel Bernard for Borough Council
o Proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, 1969-1971
o Served as Chairman for (nonprofit literacy group), 2001-2002
o Served on the Garden of Love, Hope and Friendship Project at Jefferson School
o Active Member of the Bergenfield Republican Club for 18 years, serving as President, Treasurer, and Executive Advisory Board Member
o Served on Numerous Terms on the Bergenfield Municipal County Committee

When elected to Borough Council, I aim to bring back better communication from the governing body of Bergenfield to all residents of our town. I know that taxes have to be kept under control and that spending must be reduced wherever possible. The state of our town’s, our state’s, and our nation’s economy does not permit frivolous spending on political endeavors, especially when our roads, sidewalks and street lights remain in disrepair. I have lived in Bergenfield for 19 years and I want to return respectful government and a high quality of life back to “The Friendly Town.”

Fred Sahlberg for Borough Council
• Disabled Vietnam Veteran, US Army
• Teaneck Police Department, 25 Years
• Public Safety Director, Bergen County Community College
• US Coast Guard Commercial Captain’s License
• New Jersey Safe Boating Instructor and Boating Excursions Business Owner
• Instructed Criminal Justice, Bergen County Community College

After serving in the US Army, I joined the Teaneck Police Department as a uniformed patrolman. I rose to the rank of sergeant before retiring after 25 years. In that time, I served proudly as a Uniformed Patrolman, Crime Scene Identification Officer, Detective, Patrol Sergeant and Supervisor of the Teaneck Burglary Squad. When elected to Borough Council, I will work to return Bergenfield to its rightful status as “The Friendly Town.” I called a gentleman to poll him on the 2011 November elections. I understand how he could feel this way. After seeing how the current administration treats me and my fellow Bergenfield residents, I often feel this way myself. The Walsh Team’s goal is to change this feeling about elected officials. I have lived in Bergenfield for 60 years, married a Bergenfield girl 39 years ago, and educated my children in the Bergenfield school system. I remember when Bergenfield was indeed “The Friendly Town.” With your support the Walsh Team will return respectful government and a high quality of life to “The Friendly Town.”

Remember when Bergenfield was truly “THE FRIENDLY TOWN?”

• Remember when we would see swift action taken to repair broken street lights, instead of seeing them left broken for years at a time?
• Remember when we could expect regular road maintenance, not just when someone complains or has a political connection?
• Remember when we lived in a town that promotes business, instead of chasing it away?
• Remember when sidewalks would be repaired promptly when they were damaged by tree roots?
• Remember when the borough took care of its own property before blue-tagging residents about taking care of theirs?
• Remember when we had a sense of community, instead of consistent condescension from the mayor and his council?
• Remember when we had loudspeaker trucks giving us updates in our neighborhoods during emergencies? On November 8, 2011, we can bring all of it back! We can restore “The Friendly Town!”

Together we can climb out of the potholes and put the “Friendly” back in The Friendly Town!!! Vote Walsh for Mayor
Vote Bernard & Sahlberg for Council
