We believe it's very important to collect as much data as possible to track improvements. From range of motion, to muscle strength, pain levels, posture, orthopedic and neurological tests, we want to measure changes that confirm improvements through care.

Grip strength, measured through a dynamometer, is one of the data point we collect during the initial assessment and regularly track during the course of care.

HORMESIS

"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" can be used to describe the hormetic effect of certain biological stressors.

Hormesis describes the dose-response to certain environmental agents: at high doses these stressors are dangerous and toxic, at low-dose, controlled amounts, the same stressors can elicit beneficial responses.

Some examples of these stressors: intense exercise, exposure to cold (ice baths) or heat (sauna), caloric restriction or intermittent fasting, challenging cognitive exercises, breath manipulation and certain compounds found in fruits and vegetables.

The key is dosing these stressors correctly to ensure beneficial responses, while avoiding any negative impact.

DO YOU GET ENOUGH FIBER?

So important for our gastrointestinal (and overall) health! Fiber can help:
- maintain optimal digestion
- improve gastrointestinal motility
- sweep bad cholesterol from the digestive tract
- stabilize blood sugar
- increase satiety
- support good gut microbes

Research shows only about 5% of American adults consume enough fiber on a daily basis. You should aim for about 25 grams daily.

We always recommend to get fiber from a variety of sources through food (legumes, fruits, vegetables and whole grains), but if you're having a hard time getting enough, PSYLLIUM HUSK can be a helpful source of additional fiber. Mixing 2-3 teaspoons to water can provide about 10-15 grams of fiber and you can find it at most health stores.

Are you making sure you are eating enough fiber daily?

Try this: track your fiber intake on an average day, you can use a food tracking app or google to find an estimate of the fiber content in your food.

Are you getting at least 30 grams per day? If you do, good job, keep it up! If you're not, it may be time to increase your fruit and vegetable intake to boost your fiber consumption.

You need fiber to keep your body healthy, regulate digestion, improve cholesterol levels, regulate blood sugar and manage inflammation. Additionally, the good bacteria in your gut love fiber. A healthy microbiome is key to maintain and promote your overall health.

We always recommend getting fiber through your food, but fiber supplements can be a great tool for certain individuals/situations. Psyllium Husk is one of our favorite way to supplement fiber.
