Maryland Orthopedic Specialists

Maryland Orthopedic Specialists Our mission is to provide the highest quality orthopedic & sports medicine-focused care possible to athletes and individuals of all ages and levels.

Our practice is composed of three board certified orthopedic surgeons who are all fellowship trained in either sports medicine or hand surgery. We bring the highest level of patient-centered care available. We are partnered with a dedicated team of rehab specialists (physical therapists and athletic trainers), all of whom share a common goal, to return you to your peak form. Our physicians and therapists work in a team fashion, employing the most modern therapeutic techniques, and have literally helped thousands of patients each year recover from a wide variety of injuries. When surgical intervention is required, we utilize the most minimally invasive, joint preserving techniques available. With our advanced pain management protocol, patients are returning to work and sports in record time and with minimal discomfort. Our practice is sports medicine focused. For our younger athletes, we specialize in the prevention and treatment of both minor and major sports injuries. We are currently partnered with several area high schools, providing athletic trainers to the schools for true prevention and treatment of minor injuries, and to assess for more serious injuries. We host injury prevention clinics. We pretest all the athletes with an advanced neurocognitive software program, to aid in the management of concussion (click on Our Practice : ImPACT for details). We are acutely sensitive to the needs of our younger patients and will return the athlete to play as quickly as is safely possible. Our adult athletic patients range from current and former professional athletes to recreational and occasional athletes of all ages. While our goals may differ depending on your needs, we will always strive to keep you working hard and playing hard, for as long as you want. For the more worn out athletes, we are focused on joint preservation techniques. When those fail or are inappropriate, our adult reconstructive specialist will help you join the millions of patients with artificial joints, many of whom are still athletes. If you have a work related orthopedic injury, we will partner with your place of employment to return you to work quickly and safely. With our electronic health record, you can pre-enter your medical history and important visit history. You can make and change appointments, contact the office staff, request medication refills, and visit our patient education library. In the office, we can fill our most common prescriptions for you on-site, preventing a visit to the pharmacy and usually at the identical cost. We have digital radiology and a vast array of orthopedic braces. All of our services are designed to make your visit as cost and time efficient as possible. We will be constantly working to improve your experience.

It’s Fast Fact Friday! | Let’s talk about football. Did you know that in the early 1900s, football injuries were so severe that 18 college players died in one season? Football was originally so rough that President Teddy Roosevelt threatened to ban it altogether.

Fast forward to today: football has become much safer. To mitigate the risk of serious injury, the NFL has imposed new, stringent safety protocols, including the use of safer helmets and fair catches on kickoffs to prevent players from being tackled in a vulnerable position.

Nonetheless, the fact remains that football is a high-impact sport, and the risk of injuries still looms large.

If your football game left you wincing or limping, and basic remedies aren’t cutting it, reach out to one of our sports medicine experts here at Maryland Orthopedic Specialists. Contact (301) 515-0900.

When it comes to describing your pain, more is always better—and the right information can make a big difference in how we treat it.

Make your appointment as productive as possible by being a STAR patient:

S – Specify the pain location
T – Tell us when and how it began
A – Assess the pain level (Use the 1–10 scale)
R – Reveal what worsens it and what it feels like (i.e., Does it throb, burn, or ache?)

Also, let us know if there are any accompanying symptoms, such as stiffness, weakness, numbness, or if the pain is constant or sporadic. Remember, the more we know, the better we can help.

Headed to your anterior hip arthroscopy consult? Walk out feeling confident and prepared by asking the right questions. Here are some worth bringing with you:

✅ What exactly is causing my hip pain, and how will arthroscopy address it?
✅ What are the alternatives to the procedure, and what happens if I choose to wait?
✅ Will I need physical therapy, and if so, when does it start?
✅ Am I a good candidate for this approach based on my anatomy and condition?
✅ What are the risks or potential complications associated with this type of procedure?
✅ How long will recovery typically take, and what else can I expect?
✅ Will I have any restrictions after surgery, short-term and long-term?
✅ What’s the success rate of this procedure?
✅ What can I do now to prepare my body and home for a smoother recovery?

Thank you for such a thoughtful review, Morgan! We’re honored to have played a part in your recovery, and we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way. Your recommendation is the highest compliment we could ever receive!

“Early in March 2025, I suffered an injury that completely interrupted my life. I went to two urgent cares and ERs, literally unable to walk. I was X-rayed with no other referrals, and told they thought I just sprained my ankle.

Then I saw Dr. Feldman. Though I was skeptical walking in that it would be different than the previous two days, I was quickly proven wrong. Dr. Feldman was very reassuring about my prognosis from the beginning, and he instilled my confidence in his abilities to make sure I would be okay with a LisFranc ligament injury and foot surgery repair. Since then, I’ve also gotten familiar with several of the medical assistants, receptionists, nurses, and radiology techs. I’m always greeted with a warm smile, and they always show immense kindness and support in my healing journey.

Thereafter, I’ve also had the privilege of working with their physical therapists, specifically Colleen and Liza. They have all been wonderful and supportive on this journey of just being able to walk again, and brought me so much comfort in this time.

I highly recommend this practice.” – Morgan M.

It’s National Yoga Month, time to celebrate the practice that cultivates the mind-body connection and all the benefits that come with it, such as improved posture, strength, and flexibility.

But let’s face it: yoga isn’t without risks. Skipping warmups, poor technique and body mechanics, and pushing your body beyond its limits can make you prone to injuries, such as shoulder and elbow strains, fractures, and dislocations. That’s why it’s essential to practice with proper guidance, listen to your body, and seek professional care at the first sign of injury.

If your yoga poses left you with lingering or debilitating pain, reach out to us here at Maryland Orthopedic Specialists for appropriate care, and let’s get you back to pain-free movement on and off the mat. Call (301) 515-0900 to schedule an appointment with one of our orthopedic experts.

It doesn’t take much. Just the wrong pillow or a bad sleeping angle, and you wake up with a crick in the neck.

While bothersome, neck cricks usually go away on their own after a few days. But if yours sticks around even after pain meds, sleep adjustments, or a supportive pillow, it may be time for expert care. Visit one of our orthopedic specialists for proper diagnosis and treatment.
