Mary’s movement and mindfulness program has become a board-approved part of the curriculum for the Beverly Hills Unified School District, expanding from preschools through middle school and professional development for teachers. Her unique method gives students an ‘edge’ by adopting high performing habits from a young age. Since 2015, Mary’s program has reached up to 1,000 students weekly in Los Angeles classrooms, with a 2024 expansion to New York City. Thirty-minute weekly lessons are integrated into the school day within the classroom setting, with 98% of students eagerly requesting more of it! In 2025, the Beverly Hills Unified School District doubled its investment in The POGA Method, expanding to twice as many classrooms based on ten years of documented success. Inner and Outer Strength Formula:
A typical lesson begins with a mindfulness technique such as a social-emotional learning theme, breathwork to regulate the nervous system, and a mindset tool for self-actualization and visualizing actionable steps to become your highest-performing self. The core of the lesson is Mary’s signature ‘POGA’ movement method (Pilates + Yoga). Pilates exercises, originally called Contrology, teaches students impulse control, mind-body connection, core-strength and concentration, allowing them to return to academic tasks more focused than before. Yoga poses, flows, and sequences are taught to connect breath to movement and encourage flexibility in both body and mind, with perseverance and whole-body strength. Students step away from their desks and effectively process emotions through movement. Lessons end with meditation for beginners with guided visualizations, deep connection to self-awareness, stress-relieving techniques, and a moment of silence and stillness. Child-like games, songs, books, partner challenges and group discussions are integrated to promote a calm, controlled and engaging learning environment while encouraging kids to feel joyful and active! The POGA Method is based in Manhattan, NYC and Beverly Hills, CA., and surrounding neighborhoods, as well as virtual. In-person lessons are taught in school classrooms, private homes, after school classes, workshops, retreats, and summer camps. Additional resources:
