Here's why some household products are harmful
Bleach:
Bleach can cause the stone to change color and become rough, making it easier for lichen and other growths to attach
Vinegar and Lemon Juice:
These acids can etch and dull the stone's surface, especially if it's sealed.
Disinfecting Wipes:
These often contain citric acid, which can damage the sealant on granite headstones.
All-Purpose Cleaners:
Many all-purpose cleaners contain harsh chemicals, including ammonia, which can be detrimental to headstones.
Ammonia-Based Cleaners:
Ammonia can eat away at the sealant and dull the stone's surface.
Nothing with oils neither. You may think they work and it may look clean but your doing more damage then good. I know there are some people will say I've used (X) cleaners for years. Yes. But it's not going to give you everlasting care. It will start a slow process of eroding the protective sealant which will then leave your stone open to collecting moisture deep within and could cause many other issues.
