Dustin Shelhamer๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ
Dustin "Dusty" Shelhamer is a distinguished first responder and accomplished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) competitor from Big Spring, Texas. A graduate of Brownfield High School, where he excelled as a varsity basketball player, Shelhamer pursued a 25-year career in public service as a firefighter paramedic, polic officer, and member of the Federal Disaster Response Team, part of the National Disaster Medical System. His service included deployments to major national disasters, such as the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, the 2001 World Trade Center attacks, and multiple hurricanes, earning him the prestigious "Team One Member of the Year" award from the National Disaster Medical System. The emotional toll of these events led to a battle with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD), which Shelhamer overcame through faith and BJJ.
Introduced to the sport via the Might Oaks Warrior Program, he trained under BJJ World Champion Bruno Bastos at Midland BJJ, achieving remarkable success as a three-time World Champion and three-time Pan American Champion. Shelhamer's journey reflects resilience, dedication, and a commitment to inspiring others both on and off the mat.
